Singer's book, "The Unholy Alliance" is a must read for anyone serious in understanding how the State has used the Church to further government ends. Christians in the last century of America have unwittingly supported causes that have increased government intrusion into every American citizen's lives. Based upon what Singer has written, I believe that the day is coming when the institution of the church will be the main supporters of a fascist government in the USA just as the German church was the main supporters of Hitler and the Nazi regime.
