Top Customer Reviews
The ink delivery for my latest batch of Uniball Jetstream pens is now excessive. I get blobby pools of ink that take up to a minute to dry. These are obviously prone to accidental smudging and page bleed through. The pen tip itself accumulates a large blob of ink that I occasionally have to wipe off in one corner of the page. This pen no longer has any benefit over using that ink-hose of a pen, the G2. Sadly, it may be worse.
Typically I wouldn't bother to write a review over something as seemingly trivial as a pen. But, the original Jetstream was just so good, I want it back! I am unable to find a replacement. I'm hoping that a representative of Uniball will see this, fix the problem and give us back the wonderful pen we originally had. Until then, I am returning to my search in the wastes of pen mediocrity. One day we will all find the promised land of the perfect pen, perhaps Uniball will again deliver us by fixing the Jetstream.
PS Uniball, if you fix it I would suggest that this time you inscribe the secret on platinum plates and keep them in a deep, geologically stable cave.Read more ›
SANFORD HAS CHANGED THE CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS OF THE PEN - IT NOW SUCKS!
Every new batch that I have received is of inferior quality to that of the pens that I had based my original review on.
After contacting Sanford about the issue, and receiving the same crappy pen as a replacement, I felt that I should edit my review.
Very disappointed. These WERE my favorite pen. Not anymore.
I would now give this pen a single star***************************************************
I received this pen free from Uni-Ball as part of a giveaway about 4 months ago.
It is, without a doubt, the best pen that I have ever owned. I just placed an order for more of the Fine Point. I tried the 1.0 Bold Point at Staples today and I did not care for them. The 0.7 fine point on the other hand are like heaven in a stick!
My penmanship has always been awful. I would go so far as to say that my penmanship HAS IMPROVED simply because these pens flow so smoothly that they are an absolute pleasure to write with.
Am I a pen expert? Not by a long shot. Do I appreciate a high quality writing instrument? Absolutely. Among my favorite writing implements are the venerable Pilot Precise V5 (or V7), and of course the ubiquitous workhorses, the BIC Cristal Stic and BIC mechanical pencil.
So you're wondering now if I have any idea what I'm talking about. I do. I have owned Koh-I-Noor and Rotring mechanical pencils and pens across the range, from consumer to technical grade (Rapidoliners, Rapidographs, you name it), I had a robust consumer fountain pen phase that saw me experimenting with the classic Parker fountains and the more eclectic Rotring ArtPens. I've written and drawn with graphite of all softness grades, Dixon Ticonderogas, ballpoints, rollerballs, gel rollers, Prismacolor markers, charcoal, chalk, dry erase, the Fisher Space Pen... I'm slightly obsessed with pens and pencils.
The uni-ball Jetstream RT Fine Point Retractable is a five-star pen. It writes smoothly and evenly, the ink doesn't pool or bleed, it dries quickly and doesn't smudge, and the grip feels just right. For the price, these are definitely worth a shot. They make a few thicknesses in both standard capped and retractable models, so you can choose the combination that works for you. I personally feel that 0.5mm is just right, but of course that's a personal preference more than anything else.
