A great cartridge in a pen that is comfortable to use,
By Robert S. Tobias (Arlington, VA USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 10 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: uni-ball 207 Premier Retractable Gel Roller Ball Pen, 1 Black Ink Pen (40108) (Office Product)
The 207 is the best gel cartridge I've found. The only problem I have with the standard version (uni-ball 207 Retractable Medium Point Gel Pens, 2 Black Ink Pens(33957PP)) is that it's a bit uncomfortable to write with. However, for the price it is still an outstanding value. Now factor in this pen. Same great cartridge in a body that looks much better. More importantly, the grip is very comfortable, the grip material is a bit squishy and conforms to your grip. The additional writing comfort is easily worth the few extra bucks. BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews can take the place of first-hand experiences that are lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've received from other reviewers and work hard to return the favor as best as I can. I hope you found this review helpful and if there was anything you thought was lacking or unclear leave a comment and I'll do what I can to fix it.

Excellent, but gel grip collects dust easily,
By
This review is from: uni-ball 207 Premier Retractable Gel Roller Ball Pen, 1 Black Ink Pen (40108) (Office Product)
Bottom line: A step up from the standard Signo line. Solid design, acceptable weight, squishy gel grip, excellent ink, attractive pen. If you use Signo 207s this is a pen you should be carrying around.Ink: Signo 207 ink is, as other reviewers have noted, probably the leader of the pack when it comes to gel pens commonly available in stores. It's not as easily smeared as Pilot G-2 ink, the ink doesn't have that annoying tendency to ball up at the tip of the pen, and yet it lays down a more consistent line than the Zebra Sarasa. Either way, the pen will even accept Sarasa JF-refills without modification, though Pilot G-2 refills won't quite fit. Recommendation: Buy one, then consider tossing the refill and replacing it with an 0.5mm from the Micro - uni-ball 207 Retractable Micro Point Gel Pens, 12 Black Ink Pens(61255). The squishy gel grip is, in the parlance of the common youth, "so money". It does accumulate dust at an alarming rate, but this is easily remedied with a little bit of tap water. I have lost one at work, sadly, but I actually managed to chew through three full refills before doing so--a rare occurrence. Caveats: Sanford, which distributes uni-mitsubishi pens in the US, does not sell Signo 207 refills in any size other than 0.7mm, so if you prefer 0.5mm you will either need to purchase 0.5mm pens and then cannibalize them for the refills, or import refills from elsewhere. Also, like all gel pens, this will smear on glossy paper (e.g. in textbooks).

A Pen I Keep Near My Check Book,
By
This review is from: uni-ball 207 Premier Retractable Gel Roller Ball Pen, 1 Black Ink Pen (40108) (Office Product)
The Uni-ball 207 series pens initially caught my eye when I read about the check fraud protection. I bought a pack of the standard fine point 207's and really enjoyed writing with them and gave them away to my family to use for their check writing. When I finally ran out of ink on the one I was using, I looked around and found the 207 Premier pen. It promised to be more comfortable than the standard 207's while offering the same fraud protection.PROS: - Check Fraud Protection - Larger, more comfortable to hold barrel - Soft gelatinous grip CONS: - Soft grip reacts to heat - Refills are expensive Since I primarily used it for checks and the occasional this and that sticky note, I got a full 6 months or so of use out of it before the ink would not write properly. I thought perhaps the ink was running dry and I needed to get a refill but when I checked the ink, it was still half full. Lines were no longer uniform and ink would randomly stop flowing. Considering I'd spent a premium on the pen, I was disappointed. I decided to write Sanford and they reqeuested that I send the pen back to them for QA inspection. Within a week or so of sending it in, they sent me a replacement (not in a retail package). I suspect that they just replaced the ink and sent back the original pen. In any event, they sent it back promptly along with my postage reimbursed. And now it works great again. I'm not sure if the ink had expired and is why it didn't write properly, but I'm happy with Sanford's Customer Service. The pen is definitely more comfortable to use than their thinner standard 207's and the gelatinous grip helps. However, I found that the gelatinous grip reacts to heat and softens quite a bit so it's probably not a good pen to keep in your car during the summer months. Lastly, when I thought I needed refills, I could not find it for a reasonable price on Amazon or the usual B&M stores. I do like the 207 Premier a lot and keep it right next to my check book. But, unless I can find better priced refills, I'll probably buy the standard 207's next time.
