The ink flows smoothly and, as long as you are not writing in "shiny" paper, does not smear. The "blackness" of the black ink is very good. Also, the pen looks good (for a plastic disposable) and has a sturdy metal clip.

My only real complaint is the grip is a bit uncomfortable, owing to the hardness of the rubber.

Perhaps someone reading this will post a comment about how the refills fit into a more comfortable retractable body?

Even without that, this has become my favorite non-fancy pen.

BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews can take the place of first-hand experiences that are lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've received from other reviewers and work hard to return the favor as best as I can. I hope you found this review helpful and if there was anything you thought was lacking or unclear leave a comment and I'll do what I can to fix it.

I'll start this review by saying that I'm obsessive-compulsive about certain things in my daily life. I'm a confessed pen junkie. I spend more time analyzing and picking out an ink pen than I do writing with them. I'm very partial to the color green, and I go out of my way to use green ink in everything that I write.

My pen of choice for green ink used to be a Waterman fountain pen. I never liked the pressure that I'd have to write with when using ballpoint pens, so the ease of using a fountain pen was the main selling point when I paid some serious cash for a fountain pen. It cost me about $100 to buy a few years ago (you pay for the quality), but it was a hassle to carry around with me and I had to mail order the 2 oz. bottles of green ink for refills. After a while, the pen just started to leak. The replacement for this pen was found in short order - with one major flaw that I'll highlight in a bit.

Everyone around me was always saying how well Uni-ball made gel ink pens and roller ball pens that required minimal pressure to write with. I tried a few, and was sold on these 207 pens, as well as the Vision Elite pens that they also make. The 207 pens write without blots or sporadic ink flow. They require minimal pressure, and they don't dry out like rollerball pens do - hence you can get them with a click mechanism instead of having a cap required. Now, the Uni-ball 207 is the only pen that I'll use for any writing that I have to do.

There are two major flaws with the green ink 207 pens, one of which has been fixed. First flaw was that the green ink 207 pens were never sold separate. I'd always have to buy the 8-pack and then just throw away the other 7 colors that I didn't want.

I work for a company that sells pens and came across this at a vendor show last summer. I like the feel and the way it writes. I haven't been able to get any more of these through work so I purchased this set at Amazon. I think you will be pleased.

The Uni-Ball 207 (Signo) is the best pen I have used to date. This is a high quality, gel pen which also uses pigmented ink to prevent check washing. I love this pen because it writes more smooth and requires less pressure than your typical ballpoint pen. This pen uses more ink than a ballpoint pen but, it is refillable. I have had no problems finding refills at retailers, such as Target or Wal-Mart. I have never had any problems with these pens leaking or exploding. Overall, this gel pen is of much higher quality than your standard ballpoint pen and I wouldn't use anything else.

I've been using these for years. You used to be able to buy these pens in purple at office supply stores, but no more. I've never had one stop working before it ran out of ink, and people are always complimenting how nicely it writes when they use it. The purple is dark enough to use on professional writing without embarrassment, but since purple is such an unusual color, its easy to tell your papers from someone else's at a glance. I also agree with the other reviewer about being smudge-free for lefties - I've used them for so long, I forgot how smudgy other pens can be! Finally, the ink is definitely waterproof once it dries, which comes in handy when you spill things on your papers. I highly recommend them!

These really do dry quickly.(Not quite as quickly as the jetstreams.) And they don't bleed or wipe off in any way. If you want a pen that makes you feel a little safer when writing a check in this day and age, this is the one.

Disappointing results w surprising short life and defective engineering, an entire order of these pens consistently stopped working with up to half of ink remaining inside - attractive, but refills near impossible to find and dubious value overall.

This review is for 2 types of Uni-ball 207 gel pens - Medium (4 pack of blue ink) and Micro (4 pack of 2 black, 1 red, 1 blue).

First, similarities: nice shape and rubber grip make them comfortable to hold for extended use. Good contruction (EXCEPT the micro tips!! Read below). Both types WILL smudge on your hand as you write (not "instant dry" like I've read in reviews - especially if you're left-handed), although the Micro tip obviously does much less. Both use the Anti-Fraud ink (a bunch of pens do now).

(1) Uni-ball 207 gel Micro pens - 1.5 Stars out of 5. Both of the black pens worked well enough for the first 1/3 of the ink tube, then poorly - sporadic and inconsistent ink flow - and one has died (no longer writes - something popped out of the tip and it's more of a pin head than a writing head now). So far, knock on wood, the Red (only 1/4 ink used) and Blue (1/3 ink used) icro tip pens are working well. Either they die due to a manufacturing glitch or they wear down from use. They don't "glide" as I write, like reviews led me to believe. It's an average pen and certainly not worth the high price per pen. I can't find these sold by Amazon anymore - perhaps there were a lot of defectives/returns?

(2) Uni-ball 207 Medium Blue pens 3.5 Stars out of 5. So far these are working well and I've used one completely without a problem. This pen writes much smoother than the Micro. It also uses ink MUCH faster. I'd like a Uni-ball tip size somewhere in the middle of Micro and Medium.

The Medium tip is the way to go, but neither type lived up to the hype I read. I'll look for other brands of gel pens.
