They write fine and smooth and the ink doesn't smear.

They are well worth the money, and once you try them, you'll agree that buying anything else more expensive is just a waste.

I could write a sonnet to this pen.....how do I love thee, let me count the ways.

The Uni-Ball Stick Roller Pen writes with consumate ease. The black ink is opaque, smooth, dries instantly without a smudge. The micro fine 0.05 mm pen point is capable of creating a complex line of refinement, delicacy and assured strength. Nothing spidery or shy here.

One's stumble-bum handwriting becomes graceful and fluid. Words are shaped into calligraphic poetry. Writing becomes effortless.

The pen is light yet balanced in the hand. Easy to hold and a pleasure to use, even for the smallest hand.

And, if all that was not enough, this pen looks damned good. The design is timeless, cool, refined. A tapered column of matte black set off by a long chrome bar clip.

"Take my cap off and use me" it purrs. "Together, we will go far"

These used to be fairly effective pens for use on my somewhat rough paper in my sketchbook. When working correctly, on compatible paper, this pen is dark black, and fine yet substantial (not wispy). The ones I bought recently acted dried up, very skippy, and unusable in that semi-coarse sketchbook and in another, smooth-paper Japanese notebook. The pens work well on good binder filler paper and good printer paper, as if the changed ink formula were developed and tested on those paper types.

To match my previous writing in my important sketchbook, I was forced to find alternatives. My systematic testing found that the following are a close match to the former Uni-Ball Micro: Pilot Precise V5 Stick Rolling Ball Pen, Micro Point, 0.5 mm, Black Barrel/Ink (35334), 12-Count (slightly wider line than the Uniball Micro); Pilot Hi-tec-c Pen with Grip- 0.5 mm- One Black Pen (slightly thinner line than the Uniball Micro).

I'm also going to buy and test the following on several paper types and journals, to match this pen's previous results. They are from the same company and are highly rated: uni-ball Vision Elite Stick Micro Point Roller Ball Pens, 12 Black Ink Pens (69000); Uni-ball Signo UM-100 Gel Ink Pen - 0.5 mm -10 Pcs (Black).

I used to use this in college. I wrote really small, a three-hour lecture fit on one side of a page. Nothing else worked that well, I have scrounged these up whenever work got a shipment in, but they started getting the Onyx pens in a few years back so now I'm going to have to order some...

These are awesome pens. My father bought many of these for his office when I was a young boy. I remember them as the "dad pens," because for several years, they were all he used. I loved them. When you're young, the little things make a huge difference, like how most pens have gaps in their marks. These were my favorite because they didn't have that problem when I was drawing. Now, I'm a college student, and I drive our old family car, which we've had since I was two years old. Guess which pens I found buried in the glove compartment, still working, 10-15 years later?

Now that I have a job of my own working tech support on campus, it may sound silly, but picking out a pen to bring out on calls for the paperwork was a no-brainer. I didn't go with the fancy-looking gel pens Pilot manufactures, or the new Sharpie pen. I stuck with a classic: the uni-ball Roller Ball Pen. It's just as good as any of the more expensive brands. Sturdy and dependable, these pens last ages. The barrel will not fracture, unlike almost any other pen out there. They have a nice solid line that's fine enough for articulate letters, even when I have to squeeze my handwriting into the cramped blanks on the forms. And they just have a professional look to them, between the clean, black barrels and the smooth, steel clips, with the etched-in words "uni-ball" showing up if the light catches them just right. In my opinion, these pens are the best there is. It's such a shame that they've become so rare in retail stores. They are well worth the money, and once you try them, you'll agree that buying anything else more expensive is just a waste.

I love how this pen feels in my hand...nice and light. It writes smoothly without skipping or dragging and doesn't scratch along the page. The nicest thing is that if you lose the pen or give it away, it doesn't hurt...only 66 cents each here on Amazon! Everyone at work uses them!

The uni-ball micro rollers were the only pen I used for about 16 years, and I loved them. I always have a few in every backpack, coat, desk, and car. They were smooth and dark and writing with them made me feel smart and creative.

And now, they're worthless.

I just ordered two new boxes, which is my usual behavior whenever I find there aren't a few immediately at hand in the usual locations. The box now has a "helps prevent check fraud" label. Indeed, I don't imagine anyone can commit check fraud with PENS THAT DON'T WORK.

The ink is not as dark, it doesn't flow as well when they are working, and they STOP WORKING ENTIRELY and scratch emptily across the page within 5 minutes of writing.

So I just angrily threw both new boxes in the garbage. I'm not upset about the wasted $16, I'm upset that now, after so many loyal years, I have to find a new brand.
