Try this app right now on your computer. You control the app with your mouse and keyboard to experience it like you would on your phone. Test drive this app before you buy.
How does this work?
Clicking the “Test drive now” button launches a copy of this app on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), a web service that provides on-demand compute capacity in the cloud for developers. When you interact with the simulated phone using your mouse and keyboard, we send those inputs over the Internet to the app running on Amazon EC2 — just like your mobile device would send a finger tap to the app. Our servers then send the video and audio output from the app back to your computer. All this happens in real time, allowing you to explore the features of the app as if it were running on your mobile device.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for Nikon users of all levels December 22, 2012
Verified Purchase
If you've ever looked up reviews and opinions for various Nikon cameras and lenses over the past few years, the name of photographer Ken Rockwell will probably be quite familiar. For those who haven't seen his regular website, The Ken Rockwell App on the Kindle Fire HD or the original Kindle Fire is a great place to start.

This Southern California photographer (now living in New York) first started his website in 1999, and for better or worse, his overall design hasn't changed that much over time. It's his own individual style, one that familiar users will recognize instantly. And like his web pages, you'll find those familiar links to the sites where he buys his own gear.

Newcomers will find that this app is an easy access to a wealth of information, and it's not just for Nikon users, as Ken Rockwell offers his opinions on Canon and other brands as well. You'll find that his opinions are direct and to the point, and will sometimes surprise you. When he makes a comment like "Resolution is nothing more than a sales pitch to get you to pay more," he backs it up with clear and easy to understand information, along with images to back it up. Dig around a bit and you'll find things like his Nikon Lens Compatibility chart, which really gets right down to the nitty-gritty of what works... and what doesn't. If you get lost wandering around on this app, just look for the 'Home' link, and you'll go back to the beginning.

The Ken Rockwell App is less than 180KB in size, and downloads to a any Kindle Fire device in under ten seconds. There's a wealth of information here in this Kindle Fire freebie, and though primarily directed at and for Nikon users, if you own or are considering a digital camera, this one is well worth it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Deleted it February 20, 2014

I wasn't overly impressed with this app. All it is really is a shortcut to Ken Rockwell's website. Don't get me wrong, I like Ken's site and get good information from it but I can do the same thing by just saving it to my favorites. I deleted it very soon after downloading it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just an Icon for a Web Link June 3, 2013

While I enjoy the Ken Rockwell website, I can save my own link to it in my browser. I don't need the convinience this "app" offers.
Others might find it handy, though.

1.0 out of 5 stars Tagged as Malware December 9, 2013

Ken Rockwell's website is outstanding and his knowledge of photography is well grounded! This app, however, was tagged as malware by my AVG protection software. I never installed this. Until someone (many someones) can tell me that this isn't an issue, I will just continue to visit the website.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ken has a lot of information May 5, 2013
Verified Purchase
I am a newbie in photo. I have read a lot of information by professionals as well as amateurs. I also have read a lot of negative things about Ken Rockwell. Here is the deal. There is no one out there that can please everyone. This is merely one person, who has tried a lot of things out and posted his opinion. My opinion is as with any advice or suggestions, take what you need and forget what you do not. I have found a lot of answers that I had not found on other sites. Maybe the people who are negative about Ken know way more about photography than I do. I do not know, however when it comes down to bits of information that I did understand, Kens app sure did help me. There were a few times I suddenly realized that Oh wow, Ok that is what that meant. No what he has written has not made me an instant professional. However there is a lot of good information in his site that is valid and helpful. I for one would enjoy sitting with Ken and chatting. So many tutorials start out with. "how to easily understand aperature..." after aproximately 5 seconds, my eyes have glazed over and all I can see is blah blah blah. Simply said, there are a lot of good points, lots of good information, lots of good links. Mostly Ken has a dry funny sense of humor and is not looking to sell you his book, his business, his this or that, that has his name on it. At least it does not seem that way to me. So for me, Ill get help where I can. This app helped a bunch. Thanks.

I don't have Internet at home and this app seems to expect everyone to have it. You have to download parts. The app is fre but I believe it has a paid subscription in app.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ken Rockwell App September 1, 2013

Unfortunately, you have to get the subscription for $ 9.95/ month in order to use this. I don't think that is worth it. Thom Hogan, maybe, but not Rockwell.

1.0 out of 5 stars waste of time June 15, 2014

I don't really know why I was generous and gave this app a star. Pretty much a waste of time to wait for the download process on this one.
