This review is from: vE-jA: Art + Technology of Live Audio-Video (Book, DVD & Downloads) (English and Japanese Edition) (Perfect Paperback)
I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in getting a comprehensive, worldwide picture of the dynamic VJ culture.
I found the geographical organization of the material a very smart way to structure and compare differences and similarities between the evolving VJ scenes around the world. All the essays come from top figures in the field like Solu, Grant Davis, Jilt Van Moorst and Hurokazu Tanaka. The connections between the performative aspect of VJing and the technological elements of the practice are discussed in detail, thus providing a good understanding on how the artistic needs and the technological advances influence each other. The material on the DVD is top notch. It has a lot of amazing clips, and complements the book really well.
