4.0 out of 5 stars The "Graduation Day" Buffy from the end of Season 3 of "BtVS", September 18, 2005
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Buffy the vampire Slayer-Graduation Day- Deluxe Action Figure (Toy)
This summer has seen the release of a new Series I of Deluxe Action Figures from the cult classic television series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." These are deluxe figures because they come with 29 points of articulation, but I cannot do the math. a double one for the neck, shoulders, biceps, above and below the elbows, doubles for the wrists, chest, doubles for the hips, both above and blow the knees, doubles for the ankles, and toes. It took me a whole to come up with all of them, but eventually I got them to add up. The other key difference between the regular 6-inch "BtVS" and "Angel" figures and these new deluxe action figures is that these do not come with bases. Consequently, despite all of those points of articulation you are limited on your posing options if you want this Buffy to stand upright.

This "Graduation Day" Buffy comes with a Faith counterpart for the two-part episode that ended Season 3 of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Part One has Buffy and the Scoobies facing not only graduation from high school but the Mayor's Ascension. Faith shoots Angel with a poisoned arrow and finds that the only cure is "to drain the blood of a Slayer." So Buffy goes off to sacrifice Faith towards that end. During the fight Buffy handcuffs herself to Faith, who breaks the cuffs only to be stabbed by Buffy with the wicked looking knife the rogue Slayer received from Mayor Wilkins. Unfortunately Faith falls off of the roof and onto the bed of a passing truck, which is going to force Buffy to let Angel drink her blood in Part 2.

This explains the respective accessories for each figure. Buffy gets a Sunnydale High Yearbook and a diploma, to go along with the pair of handcuffs she snapped on her and Faith as then end of Part 1 of "Graduation Day" when we had two Slayers fighting to the death. Faith has the bow & arrow she used to shoot Angel, a pipe, and the knife given to her by Mayor Wilkins. Since Buffy uses that to stab Faith, you might want to switch which Slayer gets it if you set up a little "Graduation Day" tableau (with one of your Angel figures lying on the ground?). Be aware that this Buffy comes with her diploma in hand (right), which is bound with a thin strip of plastic.

This figure offers a decent sculpt of Sarah Michelle Gellar's face, although her eyes look out of focus on this one. She is dressed in a black t-shirt and leather jacket over rust colored slacks. The dishwater blonde hair is now made of soft rubber. Of the three deluxe Buffy action figures I think this one is the best of the bunch by a slight margin. Also included in Series 1 are a pair of Buffy and Faith figures for "End of Days," the penultimate episode from Season 7, and then a "Once More With Feeling" Buffy from Season 6 and a "Bad Girls" Faith from Season 3. What I find interesting is that the next Buffy figure, which is the "Chosen" Buffy representing the Slayer from the final episode, is going to be just an action figure instead of a deluxe action figure (which comes as part of a release with "Lessons" and "Once More With Feeling" figures of Dawn).

5.0 out of 5 stars Buffy: Graduation Day figure, June 11, 2008

Buffy graduation day figure is a fantastic toy! I ordered it a couple of days ago along with Faith: Graduation Day and I posed them just like in their famous fighting scene in season 3 of Buffy. The only thing is that their sometimes hard to pose the way you want them to, but they come with a lot of great acssories and are worth the buy! 4 out of 5 stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars SEASON THREE BUFFY, September 28, 2005
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Buffy the vampire Slayer-Graduation Day- Deluxe Action Figure (Toy)
This is part of Diamond Selects new series of Buffy figures based on the season three, two-part ending Graduation episode where Buffy, Angel and the rest of the scooby gang face off against the mayor as he ascends into his true demon form in the middle of his speech at the commencements. This figure has a remarkable likeness to Sarah Michelle Gellar including 29 points of articulation. Buffy has broken loose from the handcuffs that she was attached to Faith with in the first part of the episode during their climactic battle.

She also comes with her class yearbook and diploma. My one complaint about the figure is the somewhat quizical look on her face. As she has her hands made into fists I would have liked to have seen a more determined, battle ready-look on her. That said it's still a very nice figure and supremely poseable although a base would have been great to have.
