Book Description

A mystery-suspense novel. The Waxen Image combines the mystery narrative talents of the author with his keen knowledge of his native New Mexico. The story begins in 1926 in West Africa, where Andrew Borlin, an eccentric but brilliant scientist, is involved in genetic studies. The death of a tribal leader's son makes Borlin the victim of black magic vengeance, and he's forced to kill the creator of a waxen image made in his likeness. He flees, the wax doll safely at his side, but with a clinging fear its spell can't be reversed. The narrative then moves on to San Francisco in the mid-70s, where Ross Blair receives a mysterious phone call from his ex-wife, Borlin's daughter. She pleads for help; their daughter has left home; worse yet, she's involved with drugs. Ross begans his search for his daughter. In attemptingh to unravel the puzzle of her disappearance, Ross comes upon bits and pieces of Borlin's life and the mysterious waxen image. The Waxen Image is not only authentic in its setting but in its telling and is an excitingly readable suspense novel in which the author has intricately woven the theme of the waxen image with a father's relentless search for his daughter.
