Im also interested if the BluRay is that much of an improvement. The DVD Kino was obviously a labor of true love in the effort and achievement to restore it. If somebody can prove name any merits to upgrading to a BluRay I would love to hear it The DvD was to die for.
Just read this on Kino's website for the new BluRay version of this movie, "Please note, this is the same restoration as the previously released "Ultimate Edition" although it has been newly remastered for High Definition." I too was curious and hesitant to buy the BluRay without knowing if they had done anything new to the film. Does not look like they really did other than putting it on BluRay. I think I will just stick with the version I have. It would also seem the new BluRay does not have any new supplemental features added.
The product description is either unclear or I can't find it -- but does this 2-disc blu-ray edition include the excellent commentary track by Lokke Heiss that was on the previous DVD edition? (I have the DVD, and want to know if I can safely upgrade.) Thanks!
