Editorial Reviews

Review

"From seeking job opportunities in the gnawing sector to selling pizza boxes that have only been sat in once, whiskerslist is a hilarious look at how cats could really make the most of the Internet if you'd just leave your laptop open or didn't worry about their paws smudging your iPad."
—Francesco Marciuliano, Author of I Could Pee on This: And Other Poems by Cats

"Hilarious! Anyone with a love of cats will surely love [this] book!"
—Yasmine Surovec, Author of Cat vs. Human

“What makes [whiskerslist] so damned funny? If you’ve ever spent a blessed second with a cat in your life, you’ll know. Angie has burrowed deep into the cross section of psyche where cat action meets human vocabulary and has come up with gold. You’ll be howling—in a good way!”
—Jackson Galaxy, Cat Behaviorist and Host of Animal Planet's My Cat From Hell and author of Cat Daddy

On a whim, I purchased this book because it sounded entertaining. I decided to leave it in my guest bathroom for the general entertainment and amusement of my guests. It worked, albeit a little too well. (One friend apologetically emerged from the restroom after half an hour, blaming the book!! She even borrowed it to take home with her!)

The cats also seem to enjoy sleeping on top of the book (surely another mark of honor!) They haven't actually barfed on it or anything, but give them time. If they could, they would most certainly recommend this book!

It's nice to have a light-hearted, fun, whimsical and witty book to pick up and put down in between projects ~ especially one that's fun, funny, feisty and clever. This really would make a great gift for other cat lovers (I already know it makes excellent guest bathroom reading!) I give it five paws up, two thumbs up, and happy SQUEE!

Whiskerslist: The Kitty Classifieds is a new book by freelance writer, blogger, humorist and professional member of the Cat Writers' Association, Angie Bailey. It's a parody of the catch-all website many pet parents use that provides a window into what `Internet savvy' cats might do when their pet parents aren't home, posting 160 classifieds on subjects such as `personals,' `gigs,' `lost and found' and `help wanted.'

Examples such as Hector the lovelorn 8 year-old gray-and-white man cat's several posts detailing his positive points and what he's looking for in a lady, strings in discussion forums on topics such as stolen items and word association, and several advertisements by a feline attorney looking for clients will leave you laughing and wondering what your cat would do if she had access to the Internet.

Bailey's wit and humor that earned her multiple awards for her Catladyland blog ([...] shines through on every page. Whiskerslist, however, isn't a book for children, as the humor is a bit racy and suggestive in places.

The cat is out of the bag. Whiskerslist: The Kitty Classifieds by Angie Bailey is a laugh out loud funny book every cat lover will purr over. The quirky classifieds and purrsonals capture the inner secrets of cats from missed connections, looking for love (you'll swoon over Hector) wacky items for sale and unusual services offered like a Fang Shui consultant. The online kitty "postings" are paired with photos of cats which capture the odd and often scary smart minds of our feline companions.

You may want to keep this book away from your cats. Now that their secrets are revealed, your cat may use the book as a scratching post and yes, they could even pee on it or worse, bury it in the litter box.

Forget making your holiday shopping list. This is the perfect gift for every cat lover in your life.

"whiskerslist: the kitty classifieds" is a laugh-out-loud read. I couldn't put it down. If you're familiar with Craigslist and its various quirks then you'll find this book a delight. As a cat lover and owner, I could readily identify with many of the ads and discussions in the book! Probably why I found it so hilarious.

I like to think that my cat and his "friends" actually think like this. Angie truly has a way with humor and an understanding of cats and their owners.

The personals ads are especially funny and reservedly raunchy enough at times to reflect the reality that would be a Craigslist for cats. When the owners are away, the cats will play... and sell... and debate.

The book is a great conversation piece as well and I'm happy to have it in my collection.

The definition of a coffee table book according to the Dictionary: it is an oversize, expensive, and usually illustrated book suitable for displaying, as on a coffee table. This term originated in the 1960's, however it is something that is still completely relevant today. I think so many people are guilty of placing books on their coffee table that are an attempt to make them look artsy or well-read...when really they are simply a conversation piece for those visiting.

My family is certainly not ashamed of the books we choose to place on our coffee table, but we are rather quite proud! The definition of a coffee table book sounds like it might be a bad thing (oversized, expensive), but I think it's just the opposite.

In fact, I am really excited to share with you, the latest book that will be added to our coffee table -- whiskerslist: the kitty classifieds by my friend (and author of the Catladyland blog) Angie Bailey.

whiskerslist is real too! Your cats can create their own post on whiskerslist.com! Just make sure they don't put you up for sale!

whiskerslist is a laugh out loud worthy read, that will have you rolling your eyes and thinking, "that is so my cat!"

From listings such as missing sweat sock, new nip dealers to nip interventions, there is a posting for every cat.

My two favorite listings have to be "Hellooo ladies" (pg. 31) and "Polite Jewish South Philly boy looking for likeminded travel partners" (pg. 33).

I highly recommend whiskerslist to all the people looking to add a hysterical and well-done cat comedy book to their coffee table! I for one, am proud to sport whiskerslist on my coffee table and will share it with any cat enthusiasts who visit!
