5.0 out of 5 stars Wildflowers by Rhonda McCormack, paperback edition March 28, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Wildflowers is a YA category book whose main characters, Keifer and his younger sister Abi, are teens on a mission - to discover the reason for their mom's disapearance and their dad's silence about it. I was enthralled by the twists and turns of the plot, set in a futuristic Phoenix that has been evacuated because of uninhabitable air quality. The emotional relationship between the brother and sister sleuths is well drawn out through extremely good writing that keeps you turning pages from beginning to end. I highly recommended this book for teens and beyond.

5.0 out of 5 stars Original March 29, 2013
By Rees
Format:Paperback
This original YA novel is a great read for any age group. I was quickly intrigued by the unique futuristic plot. I am the type of reader that if I don't connect or get drawn in from the beginning I quickly lose interest. This novel is so well written you are drawn in immediately and develop a connection with the main characters. I really enjoyed this read and highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely not just for teens March 24, 2013
By Sari
Format:Paperback
Wildflowers could be a book for teens since the main characters are teen siblings off on a forbidden adventure. But I found all of the characters, the story and the concept to be interesting and thought-provoking. So, what if our air progressively continued to be so bad in Phoenix that we couldn't spend time outside? Where would children play and do sports? What would the quality of family life look like? This book explores that concept and more. I felt the full emotions of the characters, from fear to annoyance, enthusiasm to adventure. Would highly recommend this book for anyone over age 13 (due to some descriptive language) who likes to use their imagination along with the author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommend it! January 25, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Wildflowers is the perfect blend of adventure, intrigue, relationships, and being true to oneself. Dealing with the aftermath of a natural disaster, this story is timely and relevant.
Wildflowers has your heart breaking for Keifer, a boy struggling to find it in his heart to forgive his mother for walking out on him, his sister and his dad. Then has your heart racing once Keifer, along with his spunky sister Abi, set out on a quest through the restricted zone in search of the answers he so desperately seeks.
I fell in love with these characters and couldn't put the book down. I was intrigued until the very end. Really, really, really well done! A highly recommended read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wildflowers: Impressive April 24, 2014
Format:Paperback
I was really impressed with this book, honestly. The idea seemed so original and captivating to me. Unlike other YA books, this future world is impacted by the environment and the terrible pollution that makes life difficult. It’s realistic in a way that other books are not when considering how the world may be years down the line. You have the MSA, a group only interested in selling inhalers and medical supplies for money and also trying to steal the formula. A guy who either is on the good or bad side and you’re not sure until the end. A mysterious mother’s work and a little sister who is, well, a little sister. The plot is perfect. The writing is great. I loved the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful read! February 20, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I loved this book and then gave it to my teenage son. It was full of adventure while also tying in relevant issues in our culture. Keifer and Abbey became a part of my everyday life and I couldn't wait to return to the book. I loved how each chapter was filled with adventure and I couldn't wait to get to the end to find out what was going to happen! The author does a fantastic job of showing the struggle of these characters and you can't help but root for them as they continue on their amazing and fascinating quest. This book is not just a young adult book, but one adults can enjoy too! Pick it up...it will be worth your time!

This is a great read for all ages. With all the weather related events around the world today it is a timely and easily understood concept. The Michaels family is the key to solving the atmosphere problems of the western states which has caused the evacuation of Keifer and Abi from their desert home. Keifer discovers a family secret and with Abi's help they sneak into the dangerous restricted zone to solve the family mystery. With a few twists and turns this book will definitely hold your interest clear up to the very end. I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to this authors next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating, suspenseful March 22, 2013
By Ring
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I don't have much time for extracurricular reading so am fussy about the books I choose. This was a hands down winner and I enjoyed every minute of this captivating story. I was delighted by the brother/sister dynamic between the main characters and felt myself really rooting for them. The author painted an incredible picture of a futuristic world and I appreciated the environmental message she shared. I was on the edge of my seat by the end of the book and got up 3 hours early to finish! A truly great read for any age. This book would make for a fantastic thriller on the big screen!
