I like the Pokemon Trading Card Game, and this set is a good buy if you don't have many cards yet. If you've been collecting cards for awhile, you probably already have the cards in this set, especially if you have a Jungle Theme Deck (they only make 2, so you have a 50% chance of getting the deck you already have.) However, there are some things in this set you may have trouble getting anywhere else (this is directed to the extremely avid collector.) This set comes with a special Eevee Pokemon Coin and a Playmat that shows how to set up for the game. Also, I think that the Machamp card can only be found in this set and the regular 2-player Starter Set (or by trading with a friend.)

If you want these or any other Pokemon Cards to stay in good condition, buy some kind of plastic protectors for them. Soft plastic sleeves are best for cards you want to play in a deck, but I have also seen hard plastic protectors that are good for keeping rare cards that you want for collector's value.

In my opinion, this game can be about as educational as chess--winning depends on strategy (and luck.) Players have to put together a good team of Pokemon when building their own decks in order to win.

This starter set will give you or your child 130 cards, 60 of which are part of an awesome percontsructed deck. The counters and the coin come with the preconstructed deck, and if you are looking for a best buy, this is the most inexpepnisive way to buy it. Even at local shops, where prices are still low, they are charging $24.00 just for the preconstructed deck. Buy it here and save a ton of money!

I got this for my 12-year-old brother. He was so surprised! We played for hours! Originally only I had the Pokémon TCG, but now we could play together! On the negative side, it's not very durable if you have two cats. Don't leave this toy out if you have pets. This game teaches strategy, something most people can't get by in the real world without. I reccomend this over the starter set because it INCLUDES the starter set along with a Jungle theme deck, Jungle booster, playmat, and coin. The playmat helps build strategy while the coin is used during play. I reccomend this to parents with kids ages 5-15 who are interested in Pokémon.

If you want to buy a gift for your Pokemaniac child, and he has mastered the video games, watched all the videos, and now wants to start the card game, this is what you want. It is a great bargain, because it comes with the 2-player Starter set, a pre-made jungle deck, and a very rare (for the holidays) booster pack. It also comes with some rules and how-to-play intructions, plus a deck building and game playing mat. There are more than 120, so it is enough for two people to play with sophisticated decks. I recommend, though, for two people get two sets. It is -\_-REALLY-_/- great fun!

I bought this for myself, actually, and I've been playing the Pokemon Trading Card game since! It includes a cool Theme Deck, a Starter Deck for 2 players, a Jungle Booster Pack, and a bunch of other great stuff. I'd recommend this set for any kid, or adult. It is also very educational, math wise. It let's kids think on strategy, for example, when to attack or play a certain card. There's a lot of fun in putting together a Deck by mixing and matching cards for different strategy.

I bought this for my 7-year-old daughter so she (and I) could learn about the game. The playing mat that comes in the box was very helpful in teaching us how to set up our deck for playing and how to actually play the game. This set also includes instructions for a pared-down "beginners" version of the game, which is exactly what we needed! We are having lots of fun learning the basics of Pokemon, and when we have a handle on it we can advance up to playing the full version of the game. I highly recommend this set.

This is a great begining for the newbies to Pokemon Card collecting. Although the Jungle Booster isn't the best booster out there, it does come with everything you need to play. After you buy this product I suggest you buy Booster Packs such as the, "Original Booster Pack," the "Fossil Booster Pack," the "Dark Gym Booster Pack," or any other Pokemon Booster Pack. If you buy them on Amazon they will tell you which ones are english and which ones are japanese. I personaly prefer Japanese since they are worth more. Anyways, if you buy this trading card product from Wizards of the Coast, I hope you enjoy it. ^.^

For those of you who doesn't know what a Pokemon Starter Gift Box is, read this review! First of all, it has the Pokemon 2-Player Starter Set. It consists of 2-30 card decks. One is mainly Fire Pokemon. The other is Fighting Pokemon. There's also 10 damage counters, a coin, a rulebook. Finally, the main card is a Holo 1st Edition Machamp! Next, you'll have a Jungle Theme Deck. You can get a Power Reserve deck that has Grass & Psychic Pokemon. It has a Holo Kangaskhan! Or, you have the Water Blast deck, made up of Water & Fighting Pokemon. It has a Holo Vaporeon in it! Both of them have 10 damage counters, a coin, and a rulebook. Finally, there's a Jungle Booster Pack. It has 7 Common Pokemon, 3 Uncommon Pokemon, and finally, 1 Rare Pokemon. In the common & uncommon cards in that pack, there is also trainers. However, no Jungle Trainer is a rare, so you'll either have a Holo, or a Non-Holo Pokemon!

This is a great value for the price. I got 4 holos, lots of rare card, and tons of other cards for trading. I wish that the price was lower, but, still a great value for all those cards!

I'm not much of a Pokemon enthusiast, being 14 years old. However, when my little brother told me how to play, I thought it was surprisingly fun.

Of course the cards aren't durable (That's because their cards), and my little brother often bends them.

This game is also surprisingly educational, increasing the kid's overall thinking skills. It's a definately better than the TV show.

A word of warning: These cards will often get stolen, but I bet you knew that already.
