1.0 out of 5 stars The Works of Honore De Balzac
It was French translation which wasn't abvious when I've purchased it. This is a great book, I know this author and this book very well and I bought it for my son. I sent it back to France to seller and so far don't have a word from them about my refund and reinbursement of my sending expences. Unfortunatelly, this experience isn't good becouse of tanslation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Offsetting Ms. Negativity, August 5, 2011
Rita Blinstein rated this book as a 1 star, because it is a "French Translation."

"The Works of Honoré de Balzac" were written in French, they were not translated into French.

Monsignor Balzac was an extremely influential and revolutionary French author of the 17th century. I feel that his work should not be given a negative review just because an ignorant reviewer didn't know it was INTENDED to be written in the French language.

I do not own a copy of, this obviously abridged copy of, "The Works of Honoré de Balzac," and thus cannot give a true review of the quality of this collection. However, I cannot abide a negative review based on complete ignorance either.

Dismissing this for being written in French is akin to the argument that many Fundamentalist Christians make, regarding biblical translation: "If the King James Bible was good enough for Jesus, its good enough for me."*

*It pains me to have to do this... but I fear that I must, because SOMEONE will read this and miss my implication: The King James version of the Bible is an English translation from the Greek and Hebrew texts of the Bible... so, just like the Bible, The Works of Honoré de Balzac were not originally written in English. (I'm actually sorry that I even took the time to explain that for those who didn't get it, and I genuinely apologize to those of you who understood and read this anyway.)
