Biography

"WZRD is the alternative to everything because no one is doing what we’re doing. This album is something the world needs to hear,” says Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi of his new genre-bending album with long-time collaborator Dot Da Genius. The album kicks off with a full-instrumental track called “The Arrival” and then continues to take the listener through ... Read more in Amazon's WZRD Store

Editorial Reviews

WZRD is Kid Cudi s alternative music personality. The Rock record is a departure from Kid Cudi the hip hop MC, but true to Cudi as an artist.

Customer Reviews

If you like Cudi's other albums, you will like this.

Theres no reason to make a huge review of this album, its his heart put into this and all we could do is sit back and enjoy.
Gerardo Ulloa
It's definitely different from Cudi's previous work, but it is a good kind of different.

I can't explain to you how much of a Cudi fan i am. I what i appreciacte most of the MOTM albums was almost everysong had its own style, its own "catchyness", they sounded different and were very good, but you could all tell they were CuDi's music and they seriously stand out from a lot of hip hop.

I was allll up for a new style of rock because i respect his decicions and i kinda heard of his rock style talent in a couple of man on the moon songs not just erase me, but a couple others so i was positive. I knew EXACTLY that it wasnt gonna be anything like the MOTM albums so i wasnt suprised that it was different when i heard it.

When teleport 2 me Jamie and Brake released i was in love with teleport to me, but i hated brake. It was like metal and it just wasnt good but i didnt sweat it because i thought Cudi just realesed it or recoreded it to give a true rock feeling in one song or just a belt out guitar solo in one song so i gave him room to doubt.

When the album came out i got it at 530 in the morning. The first "run through" of the album was decent, but you never 100% know if you like something unless you listen to it at LEAST minimum 5 times. so as im going through my day i realize something that really just set me off. My favorite songs are "teleport 2 me", "Upper Room", "where did you sleep last night", and kinda "The Dreamtime Machine'.

As i have the other songs on constant replay trying to feel them, now mind you im not just a hip hop fan i listen to alll sorts of rock so i know what good stuff sounds like, i just honestly didnt like any of the other ones and i didnt know why. It really frusterated me because everyyyybody keeps saying the album is phenomenal, but id say a couple of songs.

If you're looking for the dark and grimm KiD CuDi music we've come to know and love over the past few years, this is not it. WZRD is something completely different. We get a look inside the new and brighter side of Scott Mescudi's mind. A mind that is finally free of the drugs that has held it back for so long. Anyone who listens to CuDi know he loves to experiment with his sounds. This album is no exception. There is a very wide range of sounds that mixes the producing skills of CuDi's longtime friend Dot da Genius and and the natural, unkempt sound of two guys who just started playing guitars and drums for the first time. All in all, this as much Dot da Genius' work as KiD CuDi's and they did an amazing job. I love it.

This is way different than anything previously released by Cudder but that was the point, this is not supposed to be a Kid Cudi album. It's him and Dot creating something unique. Which they did with great success. Sure, this album is not for everybody but don't knock Cudi for doing what he enjoys. In my mind this is the perfect album to vibe to or get lost in. Can't wait for more WZRD releases and I definitely can't wait for MOTM III.

I had this on my wish list for a while. Love Kid Cudi. He's one of my Pandora stations.

However, this album in my opinion is of very low quality. A few of the sighs reminded me of a "sucky" Jimi Hendrix.

All in all. I think you will be more happy buying and listening to the older albums or one of Kid Cudi's mixtapes. All of those are as tasty as a Mickey Dangs dub cheese.

In closing this album gets 2 thumbs down.

So I read the negative reviews and that made me hesitate buying it. Eventually I gave in and had to give it a listen after going to a Kid Cudi show. After the initial listen I could see where or why some listeners may be disappointed since they may have wanted Cudi to stick to the same style. After all is said and done, I'm a Cudi fan, so I enjoy to watch him try to step out and do something different and break the mold of what a Hip Hop artist is supposed to sound like. In my opinion if you are a Cudi fan you will like the album. Though I have been wrong once before, but that was in Thailand and what happens in Thailand scars you... deep.. :(

I am an incredibly huge Kid Cudi fan! His first 2 major albums (man on the moon 1 &2) were great and showed just how different he is compared to other mainstream artists. I knew this album would be different from past albums because he had said so himself. After listening to this album the first couple times, I was conflicted but after a few more plays I fell in love with what he produced. It had more of a rock sound compared to his upbeat/hip-hop music he has previously produced. 'The Upper Room' and 'Efflictum' were my 2 favorite tracks! I highly recommend this album but keep in mind it is different from his other work.

Did not even think about purchasing this album, just bought it on the spot and I am very pleased with it. Kid Cudi is an outstanding musician.

I downloaded this album because I am such a huge Kid Cudi fan and he hasn't made anything that I haven't liked. It took a couple of listens for me to fully appreciate the album. It is kinda surpising and cool to have an artist go out of their comfort zone and try something new. Cudi learned to play the guitar a year before releasing this album, it's amazing the album turned out so well. He covers a Nirvana song on here pretty successfully, "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?" The replay value of this album is high and I highly recommend it, every song is great. The best songs on the album in my opinion are "Teleport 2 me, Jamie," "The Dream Time Machine," "Upper Room," "High Off Life," "Dr. Pill," "Live & Learn," "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?," and "Love Hard."
