More About the Author

Clamp, stylized as CLAMP, is an all-female Japanese manga artist group that formed in the mid 1980s. Many of the group's manga series are often adapted into anime after release. It consists of their leader Nanase Ohkawa, who provides much of the storyline and screenplay for all their works and adaptations of those works respectively, and three artists whose roles shift for each series: Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi. Almost 100 million Clamp tankōbon copies have been sold worldwide as of October 2007.

...the story continues to improve. *warning, may contain mild spoilers* While the first few volumes proved to be immensely enjoyable standalone type stories, usually involving another doomed protagonist, v.7 marks an upswing in the Holic plotline that will continue into the next volume or two without dipping back into standalone. Watanuki and Doumeki become even closer, [and the BL tension grows even thicker] yet we begin to sense that there is more to Himawari than her brilliant sunny smile gives away. The plot follows the usual Holic supernatural, this time with Doumeki swatting away a spider's next with dire consequences for him. This does, however, flush out further details about the relations between Doumeki and Yuuko, and serves to change Watanuki as he pays the ultimate price to save the person he "hates." As mentioned, the plots of Tsubasa and xxxHolic begin to move closer to each other as we see Yasha from Tsubasa v.10 speaking with Yuuko, and the choices made will impact all the worlds.[As for the crossover that will unite the two works, I'll only say anticipate Tsubasa chap.116 and xxxHolic chap.107 eagerly~]
If you've enjoyed xxxHolic so far, this is absolutely the volume you must have. If your unfamiliar with the series, give it a try- it gets quite good.

IMPORTANT!!! If you are even just thinking of picking up this manga DON'T READ the product descriptions on the Amazon.com page or on the back cover of the book itself as it basically ruins almost every suprise and twist in it's pages!!! Do feel free to read this review though as I promise you I won't ruin the story for you and focus on generalisations and vague impressions. ;)

Crossover Info: Yuko appears to be talking with someone over in a future issue of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, possibly the soon to be released, Volume 10.

This have been picking up speed for a while now in this seductive series and things continue so in this volume as several long running subplots come to a head as the mystery-of-the-day arcs a pushed into the background to allow more time for the plot to advance.

Those who have thought there's been something going on with ******** ever since Yuko first spoke cryptically about ****** in Volume * will get a big payoff in this volume. (Who could it be?)

Likewise, readers who have been wondering about possible conflict between Yuko and Domeki since she revealed to him that he can't enter her store will want to pick this issue up. There's also some dramatic development between Domeki and Watanuki as well as Watanuki's first major step into "change".

What becomes more apparent starting with this volume is a kind of unconcious cosmic connection between Watanuki and Syaoran from Tsubasa. The connection really starts with this volume which looks like either the midway point of the series (think about the few chapters before Sakura's trial in the Card Captor Sakura manga) or a build up to a finale, though judging from news reports and the fact that Tsubasa's going for at least another year and a half, we can expect xxxHolic to continue for at least that long which leaves me aching to find out what Watanuki's going to be like by the end and what's going to happen when Syaoran and Sakura return to Yuko's shop (they both share the same birthday as Watanuki. That's another connection that just came to me).

This is basically another kick arse entry into the xxxHolic saga well worth any reader's money. Pick it up asap before someone spoils the story for you or you give in to spoilers (EVIL!). 5 STARS all the way!

i am in love with clamp (creators of chobits, cardcaptur sakura, rg veda, etc.); xxx holic is one of their finer works. while it may be a bummer waiting 5+ months for the next english translation to come out, you can happily spend the time wondering where the writers are going with the story or read it's crossover series, tsubasa, which come out more frequently. (you don't have to read the tsubasa series to understand or enjoy xxx holic.) the writers have given no clear indication where the stories headed, but they have set the table for an amazing climax.
