Can you put the metal/mesh disc in dishwasher?

Yes, but it won't be as clean as if you brush it manually. That is the only painful task of making juices. But it is worth it.

I have a number of times. However, I usually just rinse it and clean it with a brush when I'm in a hurry . . .

You can but it will not be totally clean. I think it would rust quickly as well. The small brush that is provided works great to clean the crud off if you wash it right after use. Hope this helps. It really is a great juicer

The cleaning instructions say that it can go in the dishwasher. It's seemed to be fine so far.
