The whole Yudu system is great, though a bit expensive. Amazone offers the best price I have found on most of the Yudu products- including the screens. These screens seem well made and give a great result.

I can see needing more than one screen if you are using multi-colored designs. I originally thought I could "save designs" on different screens, but I found that the emulsion bubbled after 20 or so screen printings (especially if I changed colors and had to wash the screen). So I found that just a couple of screens (but more emulsion sheets) served my pupose well.

The Yudu is packaged and sold with one silk screen but there are at least two situations in which you will want multiple screens -- to run multi-colored projects or to save an image on a spare screen for later use while continuing to use your Yudu for additional projects.

Multiple colors:

Most of the examples shown on the Yudu website are single-colored projects. If you've never seen multi-colored silk screening, you might want to watch some online videos on how professional silkscreener's use multiple colors (i.e. 3-8 color t-shirt) to create their projects. It is much easier/faster to add multiple colors to projects by using one screen for each color.

Multiple Projects:

At some point, you may put an image on a screen and want to save it for use at a later date. The Yudu instructions guide the user to center your image on the Yudu screen. So in theory, if you only have one screen, you can only make one project. There are things you can do by placing smaller images around the center of the screen but then you have to "play" with centering your image on your project without the use of the built-in centering that the Yudu Platen gives you.

Oh -- and recovering ink by scooping it from the screen and back into the ink bottle is an essential effort when using expensive silk screen ink. Recovering ink gets tricky if there are multiple colors on a single screen.

The quality of the Yudu screens I've purchased from Amazon and my LSS, has been consistently good and I'll likely purchase a couple more as I catch them on sale.

I did probably 20 different screen designs. These handled small intricate lines and big fat blob designs. I cleaned them with a sponge & emulsion remover and never had any snags or pinholes. I sprayed the screens out in my back yard (which is a combination of dirt and sand). I bumped into the sliding glass door, got them stuck in the YUDU machine (emulsion), stored them in my empty bathtub. These screens were abused. They even stayed in my arizona garage for a month or two with no splitting or drying out. Great quality. Great prints. definitely recommend.
