Great Specs, 0% compatibility with any of my hardware.

It is affordable considering it has native support in Linux kernels for the Atheros chip at the heart. Seriously, the specs on this thing are awesome 802.11ac/n/g/b/a 3x3 MIMO with AP mode support! But, I had to deduct two stars because the thing is not supported out of the box in any of my machines-- not any of the six. The one that was particularly saddening was that it was incompatible with my Asrock Q2900M board-- the whole reason I bought it. (Yes, I confirmed my mini PCIe socket to regular PCIe slot worked with other cards.) If the machine booted, the WLE900VX could not be found on the PCI bus, maybe I could have manually loaded a kernel module at this point, but it didn't matter because the board I needed it for wouldn't even boot with this card installed.

A Good wifi card for a speedy internet connection

A Good wifi card for a speedy internet connection. The connection is very stable and fast as expected of an Intel's product.
I put it in a Vaio E series laptop (specific model number SVE1411EGXB for anyone wondering). The laptop was produced in 2011 and don't have an On/Off wireless switch. At first, the computer recognizes the wifi card with all driver install stated it is working properly. However, I cannot turn on Wifi. Spend a day troubleshooting and nothing help. Finally, try the tapping method I found on Google, where you specifically use electric tape (other tapes work too but I recommend electric tape) to tape pin 20 and 51 of the card (these pins allow the computer to turn the card off). After taping the two pins, the wifi and Bluetooth work great and very stable. (pin 51 is on the side where you connect the antenna while pin 20 is on the back of your wifi card)

Sony Viao SZ220 w/ Windows 10: Successful install with this item using Windows drivers, true plug and play.

I had an SZ220, an older (Vista era) Sony Viao laptop that I have been using as a testbed for the Windows 10 insider preview. Its been running, but with a lot of intermittent wireless disconnections and poor wireless performance in general. Eventually I opened (once I could find it in Windows 10) the Event Viewer and saw thousands of error events getting thrown by the stock wireless adapter (an Intel WM3945ABG). Some google searching revealed that the original wireless was not Windows 10 compatible, and that although I had gotten Vista drivers to sort of work they were not really working.
After searching a bit on Amazon, I came across this Atheros card. Just installed it (had to add the little piece to retrofit this tiny card to the machine. Booted it up to Windows 10, and found that the driver loaded right up and I was immediately back in business. Entered the password to my network and let me just say: This card is rock solid, and very fast under both G and N. Absolutely worth the time and effort to upgrade. Also, its nice not having thousands of errors per minute hitting the windows log as was the case with the OEM wireless on this machine. The Sony SZ220 has a manual wireless switch and apparently a motherboard correctly set up for this card, so no need to mask any of the pins to get around a lazy mother board design.
TLDR version: Sony Viao SZ220 w/ Windows 10: Successful install with this item using Windows drivers and no need to download anything further. True plug and play. Also, its fast.

Connection keeps dropping!

It is a below average card. I installed it in my Sony Laptop and it worked good as long as you are close to the router. If you are away from the router (say upstairs) the connection keeps dropping. I even took it to school and I was sitting in the back while the router was in front of the class and it kept dropping the connection.

QUICK AND DIRTY REVIEW: Great product once you have WORKING drivers.
Steps to make this work correctly under Windows 8.1 x64
1. DO NOT install the Asus drivers and setup utility!!! (I can't stress this enough.)
2. Plug in USB adapter and let Windows assign the driver automatically.
3. Go to the Edimax driver download page using the link below and download the drivers.
4. Go to device manager and select update driver for the Asus wireless adapter.
5. Select the Win81x64 folder in the extracted driver location and let Windows update the driver.
6. Enjoy your now, fully functional, 802.11ac adapter!
FULL REVIEW;
I am a fan of Asus. I have an Asus MB and the RT-AC87U router. All work exceptionally well. I figured that as I have an 802.11ac router, I might as well take advantage of that speed and get a USB 802.11ac adapter. Having had good experiences with other Asus products, I bought this adapter.
I downloaded the latest version of the driver and setup utility from the Asus website, installed the driver package and plugged in the adapter. It opened the, newly installed bloatware, network setup utility and allowed me to connect to my WiFi. All appeared good. I was connected at a good speed, around 520 Mbps and able to surf and stream just fine. I figured I would live with the unnecessary bloatware. And all was good, for about 6-8 hours. At this point, the adapter just stopped responding. Solid blue LED, no flashing, no connection to the network. Pull up bloatware, disable and re-enable radio. No difference. I unplug the device and plug it back in and it starts to work again. Another couple hours later, same problem. I spend a lot of time troubleshooting and after days of random internet drops decide it must be defective and return it for an exchange. I get the new adapter the next day, God Bless Amazon, and plug it in. Again, all seems right with the internet. Again, disconnected after several hours. I try to extract the drivers from the Asus install package only to find they are contained in Installshield CAB files that cannot be opened as an archive. So, the only way to get the Asus drivers is to use their, crappy, buggy bloatware utility.
I read in another review that if you uninstall the Asus bloatware and drivers and just plug it in and let Windows assign the driver it works fine. I do this. And it does. After a fashion. It works fine, if you want an 802.11n adapter. Using the WIndows driver I was never able to get it to connect at better than 280-320 Mbps. This is great for wireless N, but we are paying for a wireless AC adapter. I research some more, and find that this product has the same Realtek chipset, RTL8812AU, as the Edimax EW-7822UAC USB adapter. I download the Edimax drivers from the link below and extract them. Go into device manager and update the driver for the Asus wireless adapter and point it at the RTWLANU_Driver\Win81X64 directory in the extracted folder location and, miracle of miracles, it updates without a hitch and now connects at 520-720 Mbps consistently. Voila, a working USB 3.0 802.11ac adapter. It has been stable for a few days and I'm hopeful it is a permanent fix. And, bonus, no crappy bloatware!

So, you may be asking, why I would I rate this product 5 stars? Well, because I'm rating the adapter, not the software. With working drivers, this is a 5 Star adapter. It has great range and great speed. The Asus software would get 0 stars from me. Maybe someone at Asus will read these reviews and put out a driver only package. NOTE: Most people don't want or need your bloatware, Asus!
Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope the review helps others avoid my frustration with what is, overall, a very good product.

I got this card few days ago and installation was pretty straight forward except the part where I had to connect the bluetooth cable. Read this review if you are like me wondering how to connect this cable to the Motherboard.
Once you install this card connect the smaller side of the black bluetooth cable to the card and other end to your motherboard front panel connections. But this is where things got tricky for me as I did not have a pin in that panel that has + at the right spot. My Motherboard is ASUS Z97-A after some research I found that I have to connect this to USB panels on the motherboard.
On motherboards the USB panel will have two rows one with Four pin and another 5 pin, you have to connect the bluetooth cable to 4 pin part. Now I got stuck again which way the four pin should go. Time to open up your Motherboard manual online or the book to see which pin is what or Google USB panel motherboard for Images and top five will give you which one is D+ and D- on the four pin panel. Connect and enjoy Bluetooth on this card.
Now back to review - Excellent card for the price and I max out on my Upload and Download speeds to my ISP rate all times. No more long LAN cables around my house and the connection hasn't dropped since then with great speeds. I use Windows 10 preview build and the drivers installed without any glitch automatically for both Wi-fi and Bluetooth. Didn't even use the CD provided with the box.
So far I'm happy with my purchase on this card and my other choice was TP-Link Archer card but only reason I didn't get was no bluetooth on that card.
Go for this card great bang for the buck, wish manual came with better how to connect for amateurs like me.
