Katharine E. Smith is a Yorkshirewoman who lives in Shropshire, UK, with her husband and two young children.
She has a degree in Philosophy and runs Heddon Publishing (an independent publishing house).
Writing has been a passion of Katharine's since a very young age but it took over five years to complete her first novel, Writing the Town Read, to a standard she was happy with. Looking Past followed two years later, and a third novel - Amongst Friends - took a further two years to complete.
The settings and characters are key to Katharine's books, which demonstrate a strong affiliation with the South West of the UK, where she went to school (in Bristol) and subsequently lived for a further five years.
Inspiration comes from writers such as Kate Atkinson, Anne Tyler, and Maggie O'Farrell, with a touch of Nick Hornby and John O'Farrell thrown in for good measure.
