Anne Wilson does a terrific job of giving the reader an accurate picture of what really occurred at Charlottesville. Anyone who takes the time to view the live streamed video, provided by a few photo journalists, will find what they witness echoed in her account of the events that took place. The deceit of the mainstream press will become apparent.

Here we find a good and rare melding of forceful yet dispassionate advocacy with tempered even-handedness. The author is capable of adding extra realism to her well-researched, well-written, and engaging work because she was present for the underlying events. This proves that in limited circumstances, we benefit from select people disregarding my first rule of conflict avoidance - don't be there. We should be grateful for that. Charlottesville Untold is as interesting as it is educational, another rarity.

The media and the internet are always there to promote an agenda. The Charlottesville riot is a great example of a lie about the events, promulgated in the media, that most have come to believe as the truth. I can only say to read this well-researched--and footnoted--book about the run-up to the Charlottesville riot, the riot itself, and the aftermath of the riot. If one cares about the right to free speech, even if it is speech from those with whom one may disagree, read the book. You can decide for yourself what the truth is.

The City of Charlottesville commissioned a report to find out what happened at the Unite the Right rally August 12, 2017. They paid $350,000 for a 200 page exhaustive, non-partisan report by former federal prosecutor Tim Heaphy and his firm, Hunton & Williams. The Heaphy Report concluded that the utterly inept leadership of the City of Charlottesville and its police department were responsible for the chaos that led to the death of Heather Heyer and injury of numerous others. The report was so damning that the police chief resigned two weeks after it was issued. The report concluded that: "The City of Charlottesville protected neither free expression nor public safety on August 12... This represents a failure of one of government's core functions--the protection of fundamental rights." It is disgusting to think that because of Charlottesville's incompetent leadership the police stood around and watched innocent civilians there to support the statue of Robert E. Lee get attacked violently by mobs with rocks, bricks, chemical irritants and other weapons, then have the completely fraudulent American news media present the opposite to the public. Anne Wilson Smith in her book has presented scores of interviews, reports, video, timelines, drone footage via QR codes in the footnotes and other records including much from the damning Heaphy Report. Smith's book is riveting and impossible to put down because of the violence between groups that had to defend themselves as the police stood around watching. The undeniable truth about Charlottesville is in Smith's book. Verisimilitude is the best word to describe it backed up by the City of Charlottesville's own Heaphy Report. Charlottesville Untold goes far in correcting the fraud put forth by the American news media.

Charlottesville has become the bete noire of the Left and is a de rigueur mention in any article concerning the incipient evils of the Right in the legacy media. Unfortunately the story told in the legacy press is strained and hyperbolic.The early stories would attribute the deaths of two state police officers, in their helicopter crash, directly to the Charlottesville civil disturbance, when in truth it was miles away and had nothing to do with the event.The most egregious exaggeration is the portrayal of the participants, the hooded KKK vs. leftover Flower children.
The legacy Media has succeeded in moving the goalposts of definition and the white nationalists objecting to the statue removal are now white supremacists, no longer white nationalists whereas the antifa are still living in the neutral zone.

The Media ignored the Tim Heaphy report, a 232 page examination, by a former US Attorney of the city's mismanagement of this event.
This book provides easier access and makes the facts more accessible to readers. The book is an antidote to what has been created: a cliched event characterized by outdated tropes.
