"For anyone who ever finds themselves struggling for inspiration for a writing project, 1,000 Creative Writing Prompts could be a valuable - and reasonably priced - investment." --Nick Daws --MyWritingBlog.com
From the Author
Writing this book was an amazing experience, but that wasn't half as amazing as the response I've gotten from readers about it. I've received some fantastic e-mails from readers who have used the prompts for assignments at school, projects at work and just in their own short stories and novels. Since the first day I published the book, it has been a wild ride.
1,000 Creative Writing Prompts was my first book and you never forget your firsts. First sale, first comment from a reader, first review and for the first time I truly felt like a legitimate author.
I set out to write a book that would inspire thousands of people to write and share the stories they had inside. I didn't expect that one of those people would be me.
Since writing the book, I've written several books about writing, attempting to motivate as many people as possible to get past their mental blocks and become part-time or full-time writers. I'm proud of my work on this subject and I hope that you find it helpful and interesting.
Thanks for reading, now get to writing!

Do not expect a book that tells you how to write - this is more a book that tries to stimulate your imagination enough to get your writing under your own steam. Nor is it a book you can sit & read through at one sitting - it's a book you dip into when you need help for a stale writing brain.
But it is an excellent book to have on hand when you're too tired to think of fresh ideas for yourself but want to keep your writing arm well oiled by doing some writing - any writing! - every day.
An interesting side effect of the prompts is that often I'd start writing on topic and then suddenly the story would veer off into a completely different direction. And there's nothing better than that feeling of the words flowing freely! :)
I purchased this e-book to give me some small inspirations for my creative writing blog. I fell in love with the short, simple prompts, which were very open-ended and easy to interpret in many different ways. My girlfriend, who is an editor as well as a writer, also enjoyed reading this with me. We took a couple months and spent each day writing on the same prompt then comparing our stories. It was great fun! There were a few typos that I spotted, and in some places the formatting was confusing, but overall the layout is very simple and easy to follow. The prompts are separated into different categories, which can be useful if you're wanting to find a more narrow subject.
I recommend this to people who either just need a 'brain jog', a baseline for ideas, or just want some extra brain food for their regular regime of writing exercises. It suits every type of creative writer, from the flash-fiction writer to the epic novelist.
It also contains prompts for children in 1st to 3rd grade, and some specifically for men.
Overall, I got a lot out of this compilation.
You've blocked out time to finally do some writing. You've told yourself this is the day you're going to really begin writing that novel and you're excited. There's just one problem - you don't know how to get that first paragraph started. That's why you should grab this book right now.
You'll quickly have 1,000 ideas at your fingertips that can get your brain moving in the right creative direction. These prompts may not even turn into a story that becomes your book - that's not the point. Use them to get your creative juices flowing so that you can develop that great story idea into something that has real meat on its bones.
Writer's block sucks, so do something to avoid it. Writer's write - and that's what you'll be doing more of once you begin using creative writing prompts.
As a writer, from time to time I will use the prompts from this book to stimulate my thought process and get me in the mood to write a short story or poem. It's great!!!!
Buy it if you wanna write everyday!!!!
