Sealed perfectly! I have a 1997 F-150, the rear window would leak water onto the back seat when going through carwash or when raining. I removed the rear window and frame, found the OE window frame seal had separated from the cab and the window frame had many small cracks. Repaired the cracks with Q-bond, replaced the frame seal, put it all together, waited 24 hrs, went through a carwash, all is good, no leaks!

This product did not arrive as pictured in the listing and there is no indication that this is actually a 3M product. Because it was not in the cardboard as pictured it arrived smashed and stuck to the plastic bag it was in. Some sections are smashed flat and I am not sure it will even work now that it is no longer round.

04 ford ranger rear window

used this to reseal a rear window in an 04 ranger. the old seal had pulled away at the top corners with a resultant leak that stained the overhead liner.

butyl is nasty stuff to work with - it sticks to everything including your fingers. use a golfball sized goober of it to remove the remnants of butyl on the window edges and the edges of the hole it came from. brake cleaner disolves residue so it may be used to wipe down any remaining residue. i used a plastic putty-knife to avoid scratching the paint. again, brake cleaner will clean tools and fingers.

take care when reinstalling the glass - re-tighten the screws all around a bit at a time. replacing a cracked window is a bit expensive.

Leaking rear ford excursion glass

Excursion back window was leaking water and soaking the rear carpet , I guess some of the rear windows weren’t sealed correctly from the factory and end up leaking. After removing the window from the hatch, you could see water steaks where water was coming in along the top. Everyone online said buy 3/8 diameter ,so I did, BUT if I was to do it again, 1/4” diameter would be plenty to re seal. The 3/8 squeezes out a lot . It’s a very time consuming job to remove all the rubber but this stuff works great!

Used this on my 2008 Honda Fit. The moisture barrier was leaking and I needed to repair it and prevent my back floor boards from getting water (Honda has a weird design... the plastic moisture barrier actually does more than keep out "vapor"). This product seals wonderfully. It is absurdly sticky and I have faith my repair will last. Honestly, this product seems a lot better than the material I pulled out of my Honda door; however, the Honda material was 8 years aged.

I was able to do 2 doors completely with the product and could easily do 1 more. I don't believe I could make this 15 foot roll work for the entire car but it does a great job with 2 doors leaving plenty of room for mistakes and extra afterwards. I also noticed that the 1/4" size fits very well in the Honda Fit's door. Keep in mind this product comes as a 1/4" rope, it starts out cylindrical. The small recessed track that Honda uses for their butyl fit this material perfectly after I smashed it down making it stick out less. I hope this review helps someone.

E39 rear door leak fix - didn't work

Got this to fix the infamous E39 leaky rear doors. I tried to be extremely careful with the cleaning process beforehand and stripped all the old stuff out. Also cleaned the barriers. Let the car sit in the garage over night to make sure everything cures. Unfortunately, non even a month later I noticed it was leaking again - both doors!
I went ahead and redid it, but this time I used GE water proof window and door sealant. It was a lot easier to work with and did the job... So far.

Poor perfrorming product

The product came as advertised. I purchsed this to install a door vapor barrier on a BMW. I have previously used a Windo-Weld product sold in caulking tubs with great success, but wanted to see if pre-extruded ribbon sealer was easier to apply.

The bead is not sufficintly sticky for my intended use either due to compound design or storage aging. Not even remotely as sticky as the original BMW black sealing compound I had to remove. It kept the vapor barrier is place, but when I tested peel away toughness it kept separating from both metal and foam wapor material.

There is no clear indication of manufacturing date on the package or "good for" statements. The product does not come sealed in the bag
that would protect it from oxygen aging. Buy at your own risk.

If I had to do it again I would not buy this product.

UPDATE: THE PRODUCT HAS COMPLETELY FAILED IN THIS APPLICATION AFTER 6 MONTH.

Excellent stuff. The original install of my rear window was a little scant on the amount of butyl rubber applied, it eventually rattled free of it factory setting and leaked like a sieve. Cleaning off the old butyl rubber, thoroughly, is the hard part, but very necessary. With the new rubber in place, I've weather two down pours, dry as you please.
