Last week we used three of these to lift a submersible water pump with 105 feet of galvanized pipe out of a well -- with a lifting ring attached, they clamp tight enough to winch up about a 400 lb. vertical load without slipping. We adhered the included rubber pad inside the clamp with contact cement to achieve for a better grip on the pipe -- very strong! We hoisted pipe about 5 feet at a time and swapped the clamps around so that one rested on the well cap when re-positioning the hoist cable.

And now that this job is done, I still have them on hand against some future pipe repair!
