"I really enjoyed this book. It was a first for me by Josie but it will definitely not be my last. I loved the story line. It takes us back to high school and blends that interest into today. There was one little twist but I am not going to tell you as I don't want to give it away. That woman didn't deserve a dime but Kieran made the right choice to keep her out of their lives. It runs you through some emotions as Desiree and her sister Candee grew up with just each other and a slew of crappy foster homes. It is great, though, what they have done with their lives. It is a small town book, add in some house flippers, a carpenter wanna be chef and a lawyer who doesn't want to give her heart away. If you are looking for a cute read this is the book for you. Just be prepared for the emotions. Highly recommend anything by this author!"

"Desiree Contando has trouble trusting after dealing with drunken parents and being shuffled from one awful foster care home to another. She grew up thinking football star and popular student Keiran O'Malley had it so easy and despite having a crush on him that he would never want anything to do with her. She never dreamed that he would end up living in the attic apartment in her fixer upper while doing carpentry work on it. I loved reading all the wonderful recipes that Keiran cooked up. I would definitely eat at his pub. This was a sweet holiday romance with plenty of humor and yummy foods."

What a delightful story! Keiran is the hero every girl who wants romance in her life would die to meet and keep—especially a heroine like Desiree who had a difficult childhood. This book is a perfect Christmas story that I read in one sitting with a smile on my lips. J. Riviera digs into the characters and urges them to reveal their emotions, fears and hopes. A well-written romance that I highly recommend.
Kieran has ended a bad relationship and returned to Roses years after the death of his parents to reopen their pub and realize his lifelong dream. His carpentry skills will now provide him with income and a place to live until he is ready to take the next step. When he finally arrives at the house, he is unprepared when an exquisite, blue-eyed woman slams the door in his face instead of showing him to the attic apartment. This is not what he had envisioned, but he definitely wants to get to know her better.
Desiree and Keiran were likable characters with good backstories. They both deserve a happily-ever-after. Josie Rivera packs a lot into this short romance and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Kieran’s own life is in turmoil from several bad decisions. His parents had once owned a striving restaurant/pub in town that he has inherited. He really is great at helping redo Desiree’s Queen Anne home and is a great cook, too. He starts cooking for them while she is at work. Their time together develops that closeness that could lead to a permanent relationship. It is not easy for Desiree as it relates back to trust issues. When one of Kieran’s bad decisions show up in town, life gets worse before it gets better. Thank you Net Galley for sharing this book in exchange for an honest review.
