Keepsake - Fan-freaking-tastic! My favorite of the pack. Gorgeous visuals and atmosphere, great story (sad). The puzzles were unique, challenging and fun. And it was pretty long, which is good for me, because I breeze through these types of games in one day.
Mysterious Island - First off, I love the literary references that this game is based on. This is very different from most adventure games. For one thing, it's 1st person. Also, there are multiple solutions to every puzzle, allowing a different buildup of game points. Which means you can play it multiple times trying to get the best score. The puzzles are inventory based with the exception of the last two (you actually choose one or the other) puzzles which are very challenging. One of the most challenging games I've played. Also, you get an adorable monkey helper - bonus!
NiBiRu - Weird story and disappointing ending. Hated the main character. If you use subtitles, like I do, make sure you increase the speed in the options menu. Otherwise there will be huge awkward breaks between each sentence. Which would be awful considering this game is like 75% watching dialogue scenes. If you are a fast reader you can read the subtitles before the character finishes talking and click to move on to the next sentence. BEWARE THE BALL PUZZLE. This evil creation was based on the Rubik's cube and is nearly impossible to solve without a walkthrough.
Tunguska - I really enjoyed this game. There was a lot of humor, particularly around breaking the 4th wall and making fun of video games. There was also romance and a bit of sass. The voice acting was well done. A bit of a pixel search at times, but the search scene feature makes that a non-issue. Make sure to watch the "bloopers" during the game credits.
Dead Reefs - here is the bad egg. The controls for this game are awful and make it ridiculously difficult to get around. That combined with rapidly swinging camera angles that made me motion sick caused me to abandon this game after 5 min of playing.
All-in-all a well priced pack.
1) Tunguska - Probably the best of the bunch. Conspiracies and Russians and mysteries - oh my!
2) Deadreefs - You like pirates? ARRR, maties!
3) Return to Mysterious Island - Stranded on an Island. Now must explore and uncover its hidden secrets. In another word, your standard aventure game, but a good one.
4) NibiRu - You are Indiana Jones... Er, I meant, you are Martin Holan, sent on an adventure to uncover secrets of the Nazis and Mayans!
5) Keepsake - You are Harry Potter, but had a sex change. Now, you must solve the mysteries behind the disappreance of everyone inside the magic institution you are attending.
Really, you should give these a try. One thing though; these games are not patched! So, get your patches... 2 of the 5 anyways.
Enjoy gaming!
Of the 5, Dead Reefs was the most troublesome to install and operate. The keyboard operability was clumsy and took getting use to. More significantly the game mysteriously locks up my computer and turns my screen a greyish white at signicant points along the game play including the initial startup. Thanks to some game bloggers, I discovered that pressing the spacebar 1 to 3 times unlocked the freeze and continued the game. Do this slowly until the game frees up. You might lose an animation or two, but they are usually not that important anyway.
Like some adventure game players, I had already purchased and played 2 of the games individually, but even so, the unused price made it worthwhile to buy this collection for the remaining 3 games. Good deal with a few minor problems.
