It’s Big-Tits-Twenty. I recognise her sickly, purring voice, even though I can’t quite see her yet. She sounds like a room full of tortured cats.
Peter likes Sci-Fi and Potter and arranges his hair in a bouffant, Falcon Twist on the top of his head. Sadly, for him it’s thinning around the top and looks more frightened ferret than falcon funk.
I’m not usually so uncouth, but instead I ungracefully burp in response. The smell of lemon and garlic and onion rings hangs in the air between us like an unwelcome neighbour.
‘Melinda? I’m too pretty to go to jail,’ I say between gasps, as though vanity is a valid reason not to go to jail.
Please God, don’t let Six have seen my Power Pants. The ones that neither sit inside nor outside of my derrière, meaning I have to discretely pick them out at regular intervals. The ones that I wear because they also keep any lumps and bumps to a minimum.
If this was a police line-up of butts, then mine could be mistaken for a Kardashian’s, either that or two hard purple footballs.
You should totally go for him, Melinda. I think once he finally hits puberty, you’ll have a real catch on your hands.
I delighted in this cleverly written and engaging tale from start to finish and frequently smirked, giggle-snorted, and laughed so forcefully I had to put my kindle down to catch my breath and clear my eyes. I adored the cleverly amusing storyline, witty quips, humorous inner musings, and quirky characters. I adored the secondary characters as much as I did the primary players. Crisp writing, vivid visuals, and sparkling levity could be found on each and every page. Joanie was an endearing Calamity Jane type character who was newly single and humoring her friend by allowing herself to be set-up on ten blind dates as a distracting project. The dates were each either a dismal failure and/or hazardous to Joanie’s health, although extremely entertaining fodder. Emily James has mad skills and a new fangirl.
I loved Joanie. Your heart breaks for her at first, but darn does she have spunk! Her fantastic friends don't hurt, either. And Six - what a man, what a man, what a mighty good man...=D
A great premise executed with wit and lots of heart, do yourself a favor and add this one to your summer reading list.

Love the characters. Each blind date Joanie went out had me laughing out loud.Read more
