How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I was first a bit disappointed by a box on which there were instructions written only in Chinese. Only two labels in English, taped to the box, describing the product and the application. However, trying the product the first night it worked just fine. My BL-5J got charged overnight. No overheating noticed in the process. The device has a USB connector to plug in a standard USB cable and a mount for a BL-5J battery. This way, the battery can be charged in the phone or right in the charger if the micro-USB port of the phone is damaged. I hope the device will last. At $7 and some cents it is a good buy!

This is no quick charger. It does the job and it keeps my spare charged up in case I've forgotten to put my phone on the charger but it's not very fast.
The discharge rate in the phone is every bit as good when using a battery from this charger so I know that the cell balancing and the charge technology is solid. It's just slow, I can't really say much more than that. When charging a 1340ma battery it does a decent job (takes about 5 hours) but when charging the 1480ma battery (same model number, more recent version) it takes a really long time.

this charger is awesome.
It charges quite fast, and slightly slower than the Nokia N900. However, this allows you to charge your extra battery while you are still using your phone. The light of the charger is quite awesome, during the charge this indicator is green, and turns blue once finish charging. The size of this charging indicator is a long bar instead of a small dot which most chargers have, so I could quickly recognize the status.
I am happy to have it.

It does not reset the battery to fully charged reading on the phone, you have to plug the phone into a charger for a few seconds for the phone to read fully charged. It does charged the battery.

I bought this charger to make it easier to charge phone batteries, and keep the phone mobile. Batteries fit firmly, and perfectly. No worry about them falling out. It has folding plug prongs, which will be handy for traveling, and the USB plug is hand for other things too. The reddish/purplish light signifies it is charging, and turns blue when it is completed. It charges the batteries quicker than the OEM charger. It is very reasonably priced.

Simply put, it does what it's suppose to do. Took about 5 hours to fully charge my battery. Purple/pink means its charging, blue means its charged. Though it didn't really need instructions, it would have been nice to have a paper that says what the colors mean. Mine also didn't come in a box like the little picture on the top left, just a plastic bag.

This totally makes my N900 work again. I missed having that phone, and this charges the battery VERY fast, and includes a USB port (if your N900 charge port isn't broken), so you can simultaneously charge the phone (provided you have a second battery in the phone). I was able to charge my Nexus 4 off the USB port while plugged in.
If you had an grand illusions that this could use the battery to power the USB port (while unplugged), it won't, but that's probably not why you bought this. The battery is in NO way capable of falling out, as I worried before ordering. Maybe in a few years, but from as hard as it is to pull out, I feel pretty safe that the battery will stay put, even if I put it on the dash and did a few 'J' turns at 70MPH ;-)

I am so happy, my phone broke and would not take a charge. Now I have all my contacts, and an extra battery to keep charged.
