One of my son's friends bought this book at a Scholastic book fair. I've never seen a large group of boys (all around ages 8-9) so captivated by a book that they sat for an hour paging through it on the playground. My son begged to borrow it and read it non-stop for an entire rainy Saturday. My younger son, who is 6, took it to bed that night and read quite a bit of it too. They grudgingly returned to book today so I'm online to buy a copy for our home.
It offers information on deadly "things" one might encounter in a very adventurous life. In doing so, it provides a lot of of facts about animals, weather phenomenon, geography, etc. It also provide a scale of how likely one is to encounter these things and the rate of survival if encountered. Overall a really good read for grade school boys with inquiring minds.

My son loves this book so much that when his first copy was destroyed by his younger sibling in a terrible sippie-cup related incident, he begged for another copy. We complied, and were happy to make the investment. He carries the book with him in his backpack, or in the car, or wherever, and he is constantly spouting out details he has learned about the "100 Most Dangerous Things". The science in the book is accurate, yet written on a level appropriate for most children to understand. Whatever inspires kids to read is okay by me, so if your little one is intrigued by tsunamis, snakes, and electrical storms, then pick up a copy ASAP!

I bought this book for my oldest great grandson who enjoys the series. He has read all of them now except the latest release which I plan to get him next Christmas. From his comments, I understand that these books are quite entertaining as well as educational. I am glad to find something in his age group that covers both enjoyment and learning. I will continue to buy these as long as the series continues.

I bought this book for two of my nephews who don't like to read and they have been going back to it off and on since Christmas. Each page has a different disaster, with the likelihood of occurence, survival, and other interesting facts. I flipped through it before I wrapped it up, and found myself reading the whole thing because it is so cool. The pages are very busy, with icons, photos, and text boxes. The boys (8 & 10) love it, so I recommend it for reluctant readers who love disaster.

My boys discovered this book at their first grade Scholastic book fair. After showing their class, the book fair sold out of this book and had to order several other copies and this and the other books in the series are now a staple at all our book fairs.

This series is presented well, highly captivating, high interest, and encompasses all reading levels.

And its about dangerous, gross, disgusting, exciting things... what's not to love?

My sister has a pair of twin boys who love these type of things. They love to read. I got them 4 books as a Christmas Eve presant to open, and they love them. All you can hear is one calling the other to look at this one pic, or that blurb under the other pic.

Kids review

If you like dangerous animals, dangerous weather, and other dangerous things, get this book! Sharks, bears, killer bees, scorpions, chimpanzees, mosquitoes, hurricanes, tornadoes, and more things are in this book. It's also a survival guide. If you want to know how to survive an attack made by wild boar, read it! It's all the dangerous stuff you wanted to know!

My kids saw another version of this book at their school book fair. However, they ran out quickly, so I ordered this one. My kids (ages 8 & 10) have been glued to it! We also ordered "100 Most Awesome Things On the Planet." And, chances are, we will own some other books from this series in the near future. :-)
