The powerpoint is divided into 2 main sections with the first section focusing on the Old Testament (281 slides) and the second section focusing on the New Testament (255 slides). These main sections are divided into subsections with the Old Testament section containing: The Flood, The Patriarchs, The Promised Land, The United Kingdom, The Divided Kingdom, The Exile. The New Testament subdivisions are: Life of Christ, Palestine & Trans-Jordan, The Temple & Jerusalem, Paul's Ministry, Early Church, Ancient Manuscripts.
All slides are clearly labeled with the subdivision listed on the top of each slide. There is usually an additional title clearly labeling the topic under discussion. For example, there are six slides for the House of David inscription. The first slide simple states "House of David inscription" allowing the viewer to transition to the next topic. The remaining slides include two pictures of the inscription along with text which lists where it was found (includes a map), the original function of the inscription, what is included in the inscription and why it is significant in connection with the biblical text.
This powerpoint includes over 180 maps and photographs of which 100 are photographs of various archeological finds/sites. It would take a great deal of time to collect the excellent variety of photographs which are available in this powerpoint. Included are some of the major finds from both the Old and New Testament periods. Finds from the Old Testament period include: Epic of Gilgamesh tablet, Code of Hammurabi stele, House of David inscription, Gezer Calendar, SHLOMO (Solomon) seal, Moabite Stone, Obelisk of Shalmaneser, Siloam Tunnel inscription, Lachish Reliefs, Sennacherib's Prism, Lachish Ostraca, Silver Amulet and Cyrus Cylinder. The New Testament period includes the Capernaum Synagogue, ossuary of Caiaphas, heel bone of crucifixion victim, the "Jesus boat", first century temple steps, Place of Trumpeting inscription, Arch of Titus, statue of Diana (Artemis) and John Ryland's papyrus of a portion of John 18.
This is an excellent collection of slides which would be useful in the classroom setting, for Sunday school, or even to supplement the Sunday morning sermon. The slides are not locked so the information can be tweaked to fit the particular situation. In addition to the slides, there are worksheets available which contain the slide along with room for notes, a two-page glossary, maps of the various archaeological sites and two quizzes.
This powerpoint is an incredible bargin for the price. I highly recommend it to all who desire to help their students/congregation better understand the world of the Bible.
