"1001 Monster Things" is quite different from the other books that we have in the series because it has you looking for imaginary monsters (different ones on each page), with amusing names like snugglebugs, quagvarks, hopadoos and mollycoddles. The monsters are busy getting all up all kinds of activities: camping, at the carnival parade, in the park, at the beauty salon etc. Because of the style of the illustrations and because you're not looking for things that you can immediately recognize, I thought it was more difficult than some of the other books in the series.
My kids did not like this book as much as they have the others. They were initially amused by the monster names and the illustrations, but they got bored with them quickly and they haven't gone back to the book. If your child has a strong imagination this book might be a hit, but my children seem to prefer spotting real objects in more realistic situations.
