From the Inside Flap

The game of baseball has launched thousands of attractions that reflect the game’s rich history and quirky lore: shrines and gravesites, museum exhibits, statues, plaques, bars and restaurants, pop culture landmarks, and more. Josh Pahigian has gathered 101 of the very best of the best along with a collection of essays that explain where to find these sites and how they reflect the soul of this classic American sport.

Among the top places to visit are the St. Paul Saints’ Midway Stadium, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center, the Billy Goat Tavern, the Field of Dreams movie site, the Jackie Robinson Center, Lenny Dykstra’s Car Wash, and Shoeless Joe Jackson Memorial Park.

Whether you are an armchair traveler, a sports fan, or a lover of local folklore, this intriguing and colorful tribute to the game will be a welcome addition to your sports collection.

Seventeen down and eighty-four more places for me to visit. Most though, I will be fine just reading about.
This is the type of book that can start conversations. I suggest reading it a little bit at a time. Leave it by the couch and friends automatically pick it up and browse throught it.
It should be in a larger format. Needs to be a little more "lively".
If you like baseball, you will enjoy this.

I bought this book for my son for Christmas. It turns out that the entire family enjoyed it. We keep it on the coffee table in the living room and everyone is drawn to it and can't put it down once they start perusing it's pages! Great book of baseballs shrines and places everyone should take the time to see.

For the baseball traveler, this is a great reference book. Many of these places listed in this book cost little or nothing to visit and are wonderful places to see if you are the novice or the avid baseball fan.

My review for this book will be quite simple, as it really comes down to two questions:

1. Do you like baseball (especially baseball history)?

2. Do you like to travel?

If you answer yes to both of those questions, this is going to be a nice little book to read and/or keep on your coffee-table. Of course, there are always different opinions about what the "best spots" are in terms of baseball-themed locations, but these 101 seem pretty true-to-the-mark.

"101 Baseball Places" is a simple "list book", really, but for those with a true passion for baseball and who want to visit such sights in person, it is a nice primer and/or goal for future travels.

Love this book. Great and easy to read format, really high quality printing. Make sure you see the Jack Norworth Memorial on page 98, oh nothing he wrote Take Me Out To The Ball Game and he's buried a mile from Angel Stadium in Anaheim. The home for the Memorial is here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jack-Norworth-Memorial-Marker/118727941506682

Get this great book.
