Editorial Reviews

Review

"...I give the editor points for living up to the "around the world" part of the title, with passages on sites from Alaska to Zanzibar. Californians may be familiar  with Coachella and Burning Man scenes, included in the chapter on "Blowouts," but how many have also been to Korea's Boryeong Mud Festival, Cervantino (apparently celebrating the works of Cervantes with excessive mescal consumption) in Guanajuato, Mexico, or the giant food fight know as La Tomatina in Buñol, Spain?"

This book has so much potential. Falls short on a few things.

If you are writing a book about travel, photos of the destinations are essential. There are SOME photos in the book, but not for every place. I guess this isn't really your typical "travel guide", but still. Photos are a must!

Also, seemed like they wrote about places they never went to - just mentioned them bc they're well known.

Overall, it's a cool book. Nice, funny gift to give to a friend. The title definitely catches your eye, but the writings lack some substance & wish there were more photos.

Exactly what you'd expect based on the title. 101 places to go to party, where to party when you get there (and where not), and anecdotes from people who've partied there before you. Andrew WK would approve.

I travel all over the world and love Matador Network for their stories but this book is worthless . Short random thoughts of a drunken experience. Each story is too short to gain info and too short to keep your attention. Sorry Matador you failed on this one.

Fun, concise travel guide highlighting the insider watering holes in 101 cities around the globe. A must-have for anyone looking to experience the exciting under- (or over-)bellies of popular tourist destinations.

It just didn't live up to it. Trying for a number over 100 really was impressive and really didn't get close.
Sure, it is subjective but come on, it had such potential to be both informative and very funny but never got close.

Naturally the response to the above should be.. "Well want did you expect?" Answer would be something fun to read.

I thought this was great - not only funny, but made for real people who go on real vacations. Other travel books may be full of lists of things/places "you have" to do/go, but this book gives you a better feel for the places you are reading about. It's realistic for people who like to have a good time when they go away. Going on a church trip? This may not be the guide you are looking for. Going away with your girl/guy friends or significant other? Pick this up, you won't be disappointed!

Also a great read for when you aren't going anywhere but your living room!!

love it :) not just for the drunkard, but actually filled with places that I would not otherwise have known about in places that I intend to travel to.

Great book! We keep it in our bathroom for reading. Nothing like sitting on the toilet in an Ohio winter reading about partying in Ibiza.ha
