This is a connect-the-symbols-to-make-them-disappear game (like Bejewled). It's got a story behind the levels - but you don't have to read the story to play. Problem is - it's hard to navigate around the game. Sometimes it just skips- throws you back to a previous level. If you don't score well, you don't have the option to play that level again to get a better score. Once I went through the game I had an even harder time opening it and finding the menu with the level options.

It's a lot of addictive fun but you have to have patience to negotiate the game.

Update: So I just finished the "Adventure" part of the game, after a couple hours of intermittent play. When you finish, you can select any level to re-play, or play in the "survival" mode.

BASIC GAMEPLAY: This is a variation of your basic "match to remove" puzzle game (e.g. Bejweled or Candy Crush, without the switching). The board is tiled, with items in each tile. You swipe to remove 3+ identical items in a row to remove them, and any tile you swipe on turns blue. The basic objective of the game is to turn the whole board blue, which clears a sublevel; there are 10 levels, with about ~6 sublevels of gameplay each (which take about a minute each). For the first six levels, completing a sublevel earns a piece of a talisman--these give you special abilities (e.g. 4+ hammers makes a hammer knock a tile blue).

As you progress in levels, there is more variety in items, making it more challenging to swipe 3+ of the same type. It's pretty easy until the last level or two; not really a challenging game, but still fun. Complete all the levels in "adventure mode" to unlock survival mode (i.e. infinite gameplay).

DECENT GRAPHICS/SOUND - you can tell this app wasn't made by an amateur in his basement; the graphics and sound are pretty decent. Can't say the same for a lot of other Amazon FAOTD's.
INTUITIVE GAMEPLAY - no complicated instructions, it's all pretty straightforward.
FREE (on 10/05/13) - always a plus, right?
NO ADS, NO SUSPICIOUS PERMISSIONS, NO IN-STORE PURCHASES - I've noticed that some of the FAOTD games were made specifically to advertise and/or collect information and/or set limitations to force in-app purchases; this is certainly not one of those apps. You get what you get--you don't need to buy time or special coins with real money.

Plays without error with no WiFi. That's the first thing I test on a new game...if it won't let me play without WiFi being on, I delete the game. So Azkend passes that test.

The graphics are beautiful. I'm playing on a Kindle Fire HD 8.9, and even at the large tile size on the tablet, the images are beautiful. The designer clearly spent a good deal of time on the art for this game, and it shows.

The gameplay is easy. Drag your finger to match tiles that are touching and have the same image in them. Then the images disappear, the tiles turn blue, and new images fall down from the top. Turn the whole board blue and you get a special piece that you have to get to the bottom of the grid to complete the level.
My daughter is five years old, and she loves this kind of game (I've had a game called Candy Swipe for a while that is a "drag & match" and she loves it), but I can play it and have just as much fun. She looks for any three tiles that match...I try to take out tiles that will give me a much larger number of matching tiles a few moves down the game (you get bonuses for having very long chains of matching tiles).
New obstacles are introduced from time to time...different types of tiles that have to be removed in a certain the game does offer an increasing level of difficulty as you play more.

The one negative issue is that you can't go back and replay a level without wiping out your current "adventure" and starting over. I can understand the logic of wanting the "adventure" mode to progress through the story, but there should also be a "Free Play" mode or something where you can go back and replay levels.

I played this on a Kindle Fire HD 8.9 with no issues. This is the simplest kind of match-three game: you don't move tiles around, you just select matches that already exist. Doing that removes each match and changes the color of the tile. Your first goal is to make enough matches to turn every tile blue. When that happens, a special piece (talisman) gets dropped into the puzzle, and you have to remove all the pieces below it to make the talisman drop out and end the level. During the first half of the level, making matches where at least one of the tiles isn't already blue fills up your "thunder meter," which when full changes the color of random tiles in your favor. As you get deeper into the game, you unlock the talismans as matchable pieces. Matching four or more of each one gets a special effect: an explosion that changes surrounding tiles, a hammer that does the same thing as the thunder meter, etc.

All these little bonuses make for fast-paced but very easy levels. Little tweaks like frozen tiles (which have to be at the end of a chain) and locked tiles (which have to have a match made above them to unlock) change gameplay as you progress, but don't make it any harder. There's a timer going, but it's not tight enough to be much of an issue. There's also an "expert" distinction if you complete levels with more than 50% of the timer left. That's mostly easy too, and the few times it isn't, that's more because of bad random tile generation than because the level is actually difficult. Frustratingly, you can't go back to a previous level if you want to improve your performance. Every few levels there's a bonus level based on the current background image, where the game shows you a small piece of the picture and you tap its equivalent in the larger image.
