“It's very heartwarming to read the thoughts of the people that come to the Tribute WTC Visitor Center.  We are so grateful to see that so many people around the world have been inspired by our city's resilience.” –Robert De Niro

“This heartbreaking and breathtaking collection of remembrances is deeply personal yet universal.  The eloquent simplicity of these reflections is a moving tribute to both the survivors and the victims of that terrible day.  Reading this wonderful book reminds us that our sense of community and our essential humanity remain strong.”  —Vartan Gregorian, President, Carnegie Corporation of New York; Former President, Brown University; Former President, New York Public Library

"The voices from the postcards left at Ground Zero are unbearably poignant. The letters written by family members are raw with emotion that never fades, even years later. . . . These simple, powerful words will linger with me. I urge you to read these letters." --from the Foreword by Mayor Rudolph Giuliani

"Left by visitors from 120 countries, these poignant drawings and notes express pain, sympathy and hope."  —People Magazine

". . . passionate tributes left by visitors to ground zero collected by Lee Ielpi."  —New York Times

I was living in Manhattan on 9/11, and I will never forget that day, or the days and months that followed. It was heartbreaking and terrifying, and I knew that it had changed my perspective forever. It is a day that I still feel to my core each year as the anniversary looms. But there is something so healing about this book, which celebrates all of the brave people who selflessly offered help to others that day. It is a collection of cards from the Tribute WTC Visitor Center (a truly amazing place), where those who have come to pay their respects and learn about the events of 9/11 can leave their own personal reflections. The book includes the voices of New Yorkers and family members of victims, of people throughout our country who express their love and condolences, and of people throughout the world who were with us in spirit that day and send their messages of hope and peace. There's a card early in the book by an American who was living in Tokyo, Japan who has an extraordinary encounter with another passenger on the subway wearing one of those gaudy, touristy "I love NY" ties, and it brought tears to my eyes to know that even far away in Japan, people were mourning with us that day and sending us their love. It is truly special to read the thoughts of so many people and to see the beautiful illustrations they've rendered--as well as some stunning photographs of the majestic towers. I can't recommend this book enough--share it with your family, kids, and loved ones. The words will linger in your heart.

This wonderful book delivers exactly what is promised. What a wonderful tome, full of heartfelt messages from every corner of the planet. The messages are so sincere and beautiful, you feel like at times as if you are being hugged by people from every country, race and religion. Sounds corny I know. After more than 10 yrs since 9/11, it sometimes is easy to forget that amidst all the turmoil & tragedy of that day, that the world came together as one, if only for a fleeting moment. Every day I read one message. For me, it is very important to always keep in mind just how lucky I am that MY husband who is a firefighter, returned to me safely, as others did not. I highly recommend this book for every American, so that awful day remains fresh in our hearts.

the folk of the region came to a quiet realization: Upon enduring the full dimensions of overwhelming tragedy, they understood that in any disaster involving hundreds - or thousands - lost, the route to communion is built upon what might be called counting by ones: In this fashion, any travelers brought to Lockerbie in sorrow and memory are embraced as family by the people of the town. In a profound way, '9/11: The World Speaks' brings that quality to the Sept. 11 attacks. The book provides an echo chamber for quiet voices that might otherwise be scattered to the wind, especially those of children and other relatives of the lost, whose testimony brings us back to the vast scope of that day ... yet in the gentle nature of each message, reminds us that all communities are defined by 'ones.' - Sean Kirst, Syracuse, N.Y.

Each page brought on a different emotion. Some made you sad. Others smile. Some really made you think. I love this book. It has a permanent spot on my bookshelf and will be reviewed every fall...
