Be very clear - this is NOT a no-stick pan! After having used this for a few months, I'm changing my review. Once you get past the fact that enameled is not no-stick and is not meant to be no-stick, you begin to see how good that pan can be. Enameling is meant to avoid the hassle of constantly needing to oil a cast iron pan, not to make food not stick. The pan has held up well, and other than some elbow grease to clean after use, is doing rather well. Even the stain in the picture eventually scrubbed off. It now looks almost like new. This is a fine cast iron pan and I recommend it. It's wearing a lot more slowly than my old teflon-coated cast iron pan, and I'm not eating teflon.
We have just received it today and after washing it thoroughly we used it for the first time to "grill" T-bone steaks in it. We would normally cook such thick pieces of steak on the barbecue - Texas style, but with the current freezing temperatures by us that was out of question. With a little butter and olive oil, searing the meat on medium high was perfectly uniform. Then slow cooking in the steak's own fat resulted in a very tender meat at the perfect temperature. The enameled cast iron skillet was easy to clean. This is our second enameled cast iron product that bears the "Crock Pot" brand and we are very happy so far. The quality of the enamel coating is very important in cast iron cookware and Crock Pot as a company seems to be doing a good job based on our own experience. Although we read here and there feedback about products getting their enamel chipped on the first use or out of the box, I guess we were lucky that we didn't have such misfortune.
Although the packaging was a little light, the actual pan arrived undamaged. The pan cooks just as I have experienced in the past. You must be 'understanding' with a ceramic coated cast iron pan. Will you leave remnants behind on the pan? Yes. Is this normal? Yes Can you adapt to using the pan? Yes after trial and error, if you are patient, you will find the best method to cooking your favorite food. Ours is scrambled eggs. Yes eggs. Butter in the pan at medium to low heat until warm. Add the whipped eggs (and I continue whipping in the pan). Let it heat under med-low heat until you can see a solidifying texture forming. LIGHTLY run along the bottom and flip the eggs over. Yes, a layer will remain on the pan but, hey, the scrambled eggs are perfection - light and fluffy. Oh and the layer? Yes it will come right off with little effort after soaking in water for a few hours. I love my enameled cast iron!
I had recently been told by my doctor that I have too much iron in my system. Since I had used a cast iron frying pan and sauce pan for years, and I heard on a cooking show that the cast iron pans get iron into your system, I decided it's time to get a coated pan instead. I bought this one and their 10" one. Both are excellent. Don't worry about sticking; stuff just doesn't stick. This pan has all of the stability of a cast iron pan (doesn't warp when it gets hot and heats evenly) and the non-stick coating that stops direct contact with the cast iron. Win win.
Product is excellent and as described. Unfortunately, as many other reviewers have noted, the product arrived chipped and damaged in areas. Not enough to hinder the pans usefulness or ability, but enough to hinder its aesthetic look. Some of the chips will also require great care to avoid rusting in the future. To that end, and based on the number of reviewers that have expressed packaging concerns without any effort by the packager to reinforce packaging, it was a slight disappointment. Since the damage was not in areas that would affect cooking I did not return it. All in all I would say it is a functional piece. If you are lucky enough to get one that is not damaged it is worth the price. Otherwise, based on the damage to my pan, I find it was overpriced. A retailer displaying it on the floor would likely have offered a SIGNIFICANT discount.
At first I didnt like it. My food stuck to it so bad. BUT! I read the instructions and figured out it was my fault. You have to let it get warm before you add food. Keep in mind it's a cast iron skillet, so watch the temp of the pan, not the temp of your stove dial. Medium heat on the dial doesn't necessarily mean medium heat for the skillet. It gets hot fast. Which will contribute to your food sticking. After figuring out the temp issues, it's been awesome. I treat it carefully so I have had no issues with the red chipping off. Also, follow the washing instructions.

I received all four of these pans on May 1st 2019. Today is may 23rd 2019. The three that are not black in the middle, where off brand super cheap 14.99 for all three. The one in the middle with the black stuff that I can't seem to get off after scrubbing is the item I'm reviewing. I figured I'd buy 3 super cheap pans and then just replace them after the non-stick wore off which I assume would happen within the first six to nine months. What I did not expect was for the crockpot brand cast iron non-stick skillet to no longer be non stick after 3 weeks of use. Literally I think I used this pan 10 times. No I did not use a nonstick cooking spray on it. Extra virgin olive oil or butter. But it really doesn't even matter as even bacon with all of the bacon grease that it creates still stuck to this pan. Definitely not worth purchasing.

I got this cast iron skillet in red; it is quite large, and since it is cast iron you can imagine how heavy it is when it's full of stew! Nevertheless, it is a lot less expensive than my Le Creuset cookware, and seems to be good quality so far; it cleans up like a dream and no messy seasoning before using. Food did not stick. The red color is really pretty. Would like to have a little smaller one too.
I love the even heat distribution of cast iron, and the easy cleaning of the enamel coating. So much easier than having to season a cast iron pan every time you use it. A lid would be nice, but I had over lids that fit, so it worked for me. Maybe offer a lid as an option on the side for people that don't have lids that fit, but so those that do don't have to pay the extra cost of the lid.
...and performance. Great look too. Don't expect it to be as non-stick as teflon, but it is MUCH healthier choice. I would strongly recommend to strictly follow all the maintenance routine. This skillet is sturdy, but easy to ruin and if enamel is cracked, it starts to release some toxic substances, just like teflon does.
Read lots of bad reviews on here, but so far no issues from me. Guess must be all about how much you use/abuse it.. Take care of the enamel coating, and it will last a long time
