Holds Up To Frequent Rewatching.

About the time this was available for pre-order, I had just finished binge-watching the series (again) that I had saved to hard drive via Dish, but I had missed several episodes, so I decided to get the whole series once and for all.

Since I just watched what I had a few months ago, including all of the first couple of seasons, I was planning on skipping to the episodes i had missed, but thought what the heck and started from episode 1. Glad I did. I guess that because of all the time jumping, it's easy to forget the order things happen and I'm really enjoying seeing it all again.

Very few sci-fi TV shows or movies rate 5 stars, but this is one which does.

The only negative is that this has the cheapest DVD packaging I've ever seen -- 2 DVDs for each season stuck into slots on either side of a piece of cardboard and the four pieces of cardboard stuffed inside of a cardboard box. The cardboard pieces do not even have the season number printed on them and the season # on the DVDs is printed in dark red ink printed on black background, so you have to dig each DVD out of the slots to hold up to a bright light to be able to read the season.

The series is still worth 5 stars, but whoever designed this packaging should be ashamed.

12 Monkeys is a tv adaption that surpasses the film in every possible way
It also one of the best Time Travel/Sci-Fi sub genre shows since Continuum & Quantum Leap
Any die hard fan of NBC's Timeless should binge 12 Monkeys (To see the real Timeless)
The fact it only lasted only 4 seasons is bitter sweet and very telling how SyFy is clueless and don't care about anything they put out (Over the last 5yrs)

Everything about this series works
From the writing to the production, Props, special effects (There's a lot of love put into the series)

Last but, not least is the Outstanding Cast:

Aaron Stanford (James Cole) Aaron Stanford is a great character actor that can do almost anything this Version of James Cole is
multidimensional has a lot of backstory unlike the Bruce Willis version

Amanda Schull (Dr. Cassandra Railly) Much like Stanford she is super talented she deserves more leading role parts She can carry a series!

Barbara Sukowa (Katarina Jones) Barbara Sukowa is truly "German Royalty" Having her as a major player adds a lot to this series!

Emily Hampshire (Jennifer Goines) Gender swapping Jeffrey Goines into Jennifer Goines might sound like some SJW Conspiracy or something stupid
But, Emily is the VIP of this entire series she steal every scene she is in (Jennifer Goines is as important as James Cole) One small (spoiler) Is a scene were Jennifer has to distract Hitler and a room full of Nazi followers
and she does it by singing Pink's U + Ur Hand (This may sound silly/stupid But, trust me it's a near perfect scene looks and sounds like a 1990's Music video!)

Kirk Acevedo (José Ramse) Kirk is one of those "Ooh That Guy" Actors huge fan of Mr. Acevedo

Alisen Down (Olivia) much like Emily Hampshire Alisen Down is a rock star (She was born for this role and boy does she make this Character her own!
Will be a life long fan of Alisen Down from this role alone........

Todd Stashwick (Deacon)

Brooke Williams (Hannah Jones) Super talented New Zealand actresses (Big fan of her due to this role too) If you ever watched The Almighty Johnsons you'll know her

Not going to spoil anything as far as the shift this is from the movie (While the Movie isn't bad it's a blue print to build Upon this world)
The series also has major replay value (That's the one good thing about the series only running 4 season) You can go back and see things you missed the first viewing
(I've watched the entire series twice) and still love everything about it
Such a huge fan i payed double to Import Season 3 & 4 on blu-ray
This entire box set is worth a blind buy for any Sci-Fi fan that wants to be blown away by a tv series (That flew under the radar while it aired on SyFy Channel) But, it does have a major fan base/cult following!
Been debating if i should double dip and buy the Australia 12 Monkeys Ultimate Collection Blu-Ray box set (Import)
Which is super expensive for a Import

I knew I loved the series but wasn't sure I'd ever see a box set of all four seasons. So I was excited when I saw this was available and nabbed it on the first day it was available. The story is better than I remembered it. Get time travel series with fully developed characters. You really grow with the characters and their relationships with each other. Each loss is heartbreaking and each victory is thrilling.

I will also say that to my eyes the Blu Ray transfer was FANTASTIC. The picture was beautiful (1000 times better than when I saw it on SyFy) and the sound mixing was great as well. I keep finding myself amazed at how good the picture was. completely and thoroughly satisfied with this purchase and it has made a wonderful addition to my collection. Congrats to all involved in this product.

I bought the DVD complete series of 12 Monkeys, instead of the bluray complete series, to save a few bucks. That was a mistake. MillCreek has crammed 7 episodes on a single one-sided DVD. Audio is fine, and the image is usually fine...as long as the camerra doesn't move. Every time it pans left, right, up, or down the video glitches momentarily. And sometimes the image goes wibbly-wobbly when the camera isn't panning at all, especially in low light scenes. These problems occur multiple times in every single episode.

Loved the series but I never got to properly watch season 4, so am glad I can watch it all in one shot. Love the boxed set but yes, the quality is bad. The discs can't remain in place and keep falling out when you flip the discs. Can I get a replacement box?

I've checked out a few of the disks to verify the quality and was ecstatic to see that it looks like a excellent HD transfer to Blu-ray plus the disks are packed with extras which makes this a must have to fans of this series.

The packaging is crude. the DVDs are in thin cardboard holders. No protection. the DVD will get fingerprints on it when removed from the holder. the holder itself is a blah gray scale design.the box itself gives no information about the series. No indication that it was on SyFy. No indication as to when it was on. Definitely not worth purchasing.

Scrivo queste poche righe per dare delle delucidazioni sul prodotto agli acquirenti italiani.

Il prezzo del boxset (~78 euro circa al momento) può sembrare alto, specie rispetto a serie più blasonate come Game of Thrones o Fringe, ma 12 Monkeys è una serie di nicchia e purtroppo le cose di nicchia costano di più. Questo cofanetto della Mill Creek è anzi una manna dal cielo visto che le singole stagioni precedentemente distribuite da Universal sono introvabili o molto costose (~30 euro a stagione). Oltretutto è una serie molto difficile da trovare anche in streaming visto che in Italia solo Netflix l'ha avuta in catalogo ma con due sole stagioni su quattro prima che sparissero anche quelle. Il cofanetto Mill Creek divide ogni stagione in due dischi, la qualità video non è quindi straordinaria ma comunque molto meglio di Netflix.

Un altro motivo per il costo alto del cofanetto è che si tratta di un prodotto di importazione dagli USA. Se lo cercate su amazon.com lo troverete a circa 40 dollari ma se aggiungete spese di spedizione e tasse doganali arrivate comunque a 80 euro circa.

Essendo destinato al mercato americano, la confezione riporta compatibilità solo con la regione A. In teoria quindi non dovrebbe funzionare sui lettori europei/italiani. Come ho verificato personalmente e come riportato anche su siti non ufficiali, il cofanetto funziona invece perfettamente sui lettori regione B. Impossibile dire se si tratta di un errore di authoring o se Mill Creek ha voluto fare un regalo sottobanco ai fan europei (e non ci sarebbe niente di male visto che non esiste un distributore europeo della serie), in ogni caso meglio approfittarne perché se si tratta di un errore verrà sicuramente corretto in future ristampe.

Segnalo come ultima cosa che il cofanetto dispone di sottotitoli inglesi per non udenti (mentre due dei quattro cofanetti Universal non aveva neanche quelli). Non sono disponibili altre lingue. Solo per veri appassionati!
