Just finished the book. You nailed it. It ought to be required reading in every high school and college civics and political science class. The lack of real political leadership in the US today is truly appalling. We need to cultivate and promote effective leaders that view the status quo as a huge crisis that demands a call to action with a simple plan. Leadership that can stand up to the special interests, money, and professional politicians to create a truly compelling vision that can create "a more perfect Union". John Burke began working at Trek Bicycle in 1984 and has been president of the company since 1997. In addition to leading Trek, John served as chairman of President George W. Bush’s President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and is a founding member of the Bikes Belong Coalition. John is an avid cyclist who has finished Ironman Wisconsin twice as well as completing the Boston and New York Marathons. John and his wife, Tania, live in Madison, Wisconsin.

Simplistic and even silly. Mr. Burke's approach to the defense department is spot on, but it ain't going to happen. Unions are not the problem that he would make them. Does he recall the days of unsafe working conditions, child labor, seven day work weeks, the 60+ hour work week and the lack of overtime protection. Those conditions were not myths and were addressed by unions. Europe is heavily entrenched in unionism and it works well. As well, reducing congress members and term limitations will require an amendment to the Constitution and we can't even get an equality amendment passed. I read this because I am an avid cyclist and was interested in the ideas of the chairman of Trek, but I was underwhelmed by the repetition and simplicity of this diatribe. The real problem facing this country is the equality between money and speech and the acceptance of companies as people. This was more of a vanity piece.
