This is a well written suspenseful novel. The characters are well developed, the plot is superb and the action is continuous. I highly recommend this novel as it portrays a very possible future for the United States. This is the first in a series and the book leaves you waiting for the next installment!
(Joan Nienhuis Book Reviews from an Avid Reader 2012-08-29)

This is a great Christian suspense book. I enjoyed the setting and different cities the story took place in. I thought the characters were interesting and kept me cheering for them throughout the book. The plot itself was exciting and had me entertained the whole time. I gave this book 5/5 stars. If you enjoy action, suspense and a Christian themed story, then you will really enjoy this book! One of the best books I have read in the past year!

In 1997, I was temporarily incapacitated with a bad back. At the time, I wasn't yet living permanently in the USA so I had very books with which to keep me occupied. I did, however, have a Tom Clancy novel. I read it quickly and immediately sent out my then fiancé (now husband) to find the next one. As a result, I became a fan of this type of dramatic fiction. The 13: Fall reminds me of Clancy's novels, with a dash of the Left Behind series thrown in.

Before I go further, I'm going to suggest that Barbour might have a marketing problem on its hands. The official description of this novel doesn't quite match the plot. While the publisher's website and also Amazon focuses on the disappearance of border agents, another website suggests the plot is about illegal immigration. In actuality, Keene is asked to investigate a mysterious person called The Prophet who has been sending dire warnings to the President of the United States. The USA must repent of its sin or else it will be destroyed. Joining Keene in his investigation is Megan Taylor from the FBI and a former operative called Boz. Keene refuses to acknowledge the possibility that The Prophet is sent from God, while Boz is very open to the concept. With characters like these, you know that, at some point during the narrative, there's going to be discussion about God and how He allows bad things to happen.

The premise of The 13: Fall is plausible, given current events. The United States is trillions of dollars in debt, and much of that debt is owned by China. Its military strength is being depleted, even as our brave men and women are sent all over the world. The National Guard is no longer only for national defense on home soil. The writing in this novel is average, but it was the idea that kept me reading.

It's a little over a decade in the future. The President of the U.S. has been receiving mysterious announcements from a man who is warning the President about a future judgment on the nation. Unless the nation returns to honoring God, the judgment will come. While the President is a Christian, he is in a turmoil. Is this man a crackpot, a sham, or is this really a word from the Lord?
The President assembles a team of the best in national security to find this man they have dubbed The Prophet. Jon Keene is an extraordinary CIA agent with a chip on his shoulder against God for letting his wife die. Megan Taylor is undoubtedly the best computer hacker the FBI has in their ranks. A fervent Christian, she can get into any server, connect with any secured network, anytime. And Bozwell Hamilton, an ex-special ops soldier turned pastor.
As the three work to find The Prophet, the unthinkable happens. The greedy head of the recently combined national defense agencies has made a deal with the Chinese. New stealth technology has allowed the Chinese to hover at the U.S. borders. The scheme is that the Chinese would be allowed into U. S. protected areas to drill for their much needed oil. But the Chinese have a much more serious plan in mind - invasion.

This is a well written suspenseful novel. The characters are well developed, the plot is superb and the action is continuous. I highly recommend this novel as it portrays a very possible future for the United States. This is the first in a series and the book leaves you waiting for the next installment!

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher for the purpose of this review.

Robbie Cheuvront and Erik Reed take the reader on a spine-tingling adventure as a foreign country prepares to invade the United States. As a prophet foretells of dangerous events to come and border guards begin disappearing, the President sends a specialized team to discover answers. From the first page to the last it's a roller-coaster ride that I would recommend to every reader who loves high adventure.

I want to tell you that The 13: Fall is the most interesting book I have read in months. I read maybe 3 or 4 books a week and I just couldn't put this book down. I would go to bed at night and wake up 2 hours later to go back to reading the book. The Authors did a fantastic job of putting the characters together and making the complete book believable. For those readers who have served in the military you can see just how decisions were made and how the leaders of our country think. The references to God and Bible verses were refreshing and well thought out. The Prophet, a main character in the book, was a great concept and never failed when he was there to ad suspense.

I would recommend this book to all avid readers. This book will keep you on the edge of your chair and unable to walk away from the book itself. Please do yourself a favor and get this book right now. You will never regret it.

Usually when I write a review it is fresh from having just finished reading the book. Here is a novel that defies any certain description; it is packed with the message of Jesus plus themes, characters, etc... I can tell you that this book is riveting with a whopper of a storyline. You'll have to decide for yourself what that is by reading this book.
The geography in this novel is global though most action takes place in Dubai, the Unites States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The protagonists are from all the countries mentioned; the antagonists come from the same regions too. There are believers who are weak in the faith and must choose what to do now that the unthinkable has happened. Some of the believers are reaching out and speaking unashamedly about the need to repent, seeking God with all their hearts.
As a teaser, the novel has a lot of action, adventure, spies, assassins, and those who commit treason. All agencies of the Armed Forces are represented in this novel as the President has been receiving messages from a source known only as the Prophet. The Prophet has been telling the President he must call the United States to repentance before the Lord unleashes his chastisement. The President is a strong believer who knows God has called him to lead this great nation, but is the Prophet for real or something else?
Different characters in the Executive Branch are supposed to be working together to help America, but there is one woman in a position of extreme trust who is about to be found out. She has been doing the unthinkable. An FBI specialist named Megan is a computer genius and she has been more help in tracking down those doing evil than anyone is aware of. Jon works for the CIA.
