When a new American president takes office he wants NASA to send a team to Mars in less than four years. Wow! There are three main characters, the astronauts, two American men and one Canadian woman, who is the pilot. Of course, there are the chauvinistic attitudes to deal with in addition to the personality and compatability issues. But in the end they must all work together and of course they do. Problems are tackled, solved, and along the way secret discoveries are made and the beauty of the planet is observed and truly appreciated and shared with the reader in only the way a really good writer can convey. This turned out to be an absolutely thrilling ride and a riveting story.
For anyone who likes REAL Science Fiction, this is a must read.
