"I love Larissa Reinhart's books because they are funny but they also show the big heart of the protagonist. Despite the movie star background Maize is down to earth and cares about everyone and justice. The situations that she finds herself in are humorous, but she isn't a joke." -- Lynn Farris, Hot Mystery Review
"This is a great start to a new series that boasts a quirky cast of characters, engaging dialogue and the liveliness that befits this delightfully amusing and fast-paced drama."-- Dru Ann Love, Dru's Book Musings
"There is a good mystery mixed in with all the craziness surrounding Maizie. I would recommend this book if you're a fan of the chic lit genre. I think you'll really like the authors writing style and Maizie. There is a mystery and plenty of suspects/characters to keep you guessing and entertained." --More Than A Review (PG-13 rating)
"Celebrity gossip fans, reality TV fans, and of course mystery fans are going to love Maizie Albright. She is determined, quirky, and lots of fun. A former child actor who played a detective on TV, Maisie returns home to Black Pine, Georgia seeking an apprenticeship with a real private investigator. Will Maisie be able to convince her unwilling mentor that she's more than a Hollywood has-been? Full of humor and romance, this is a great start to a new series." --The Book's The Thing
"Ms. Reinhart has struck gold with these characters and she has written them into a fabulous and funny mystery story. Twists and turns, romantic tension, great dialogue full of humor and fast quips, along with some Southern flair had these pages absolutely flying. I was sorry the story had to end.
A smashing debut for this series! I want more Maizie A.S.A.P.!!" 5 stars -- Escape with Dollycas into a Good Book
"Larissa writes a delightful book. Suspense, romance, and some funny situations. [Maizie's] a teen star grown up to new possibilities " -- Sharon Salituro, Fresh Fiction
From the Author
In her first book, 15 MINUTES, ex-teen TV and reality star, Maizie Albright, returns home to Black Pine, Georgia, determined to start a new career as a private investigator, modeled after her childhood starring role in Julie Pinkerton: Teen Detective. For a license in Georgia, she needs training and there's only one gumshoe in Black Pine: Wyatt Nash of Nash Security Solutions. He's got a hard body, Paul Newman eyes, and no interest in having an ex-actress for an apprentice. Unbeknownst to Maizie, the reality show cast of All is Albright and her stage-monster manager also follows her to Georgia.
Maizie's got a big learning curve to overcome--not only in private investigations but also in life as a non-celebrity--but an optimistic disposition, years of therapy, and donuts will help her become the independent thinker her manager always hoped she wouldn't become.
I truly believe with the right attitude and donuts, you can "make it happen" just like Maizie.xoxoLarissa
I love Larissa Reinhart’s Cherry Tucker series. When I learned she was writing a new series I knew I had to read it too. Maizie Albright didn’t disappoint! The book starts with Maizie trying to get a job as an apprentice detective at Nash Security Solutions. Maizie, a former teen detective star, had recently been sent to live with her father and ordered to get a job that wasn’t in the movie/television industry. If she doesn’t she could go to jail in California for some trouble she got in while living there. Maizie quickly involves herself in one of Mr. Nash’s cases and ends up getting Mr. Nash in trouble with Mr. Waverly, an important man in town. It was Maizie job to watch Mr. Waverly’s wife, and now she is missing. Maizie feels guilty and is determined to find Sarah Waverly. In Maizie’s attempts to help she manages to end up walking down the road with clothes torn by a dog, interview a woman who flashes her, and gets locked in a phone booth. Those are just a few things that go wrong in the investigation. On top of all that, Maizie’s agent/mother is determined that Maizie will continue the reality television show and has the Albright crew follow her everywhere. When Maizie, flanked by her unlikely friends, Rhonda and Tiffany, follow Nash to Savannah, they discover a dead body. As Maizie rushes to find Nash she discovers what really happened to Sarah. You can’t help but love Maizie. She is a young woman trying to find herself outside of Hollywood and without the overpowering influence of her agent/mother. She is smart, insecure, and persistent. The situations she gets herself into will keep you laughing. I can’t wait until the next Maizie Albright book!
I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.
Maizie Albright is quite a character. She's 25 years old and still has a problem standing up to her mother. You'll understand why when you read the book. Her mother is a professional agent and boss and has spent her time telling her child star daughter what to do and when to do it. This, of course, has led Maizie to rebel and wind up on probation with an order from the judge to secure employment within ten days of her release and her freedom relies on staying away from Hollywood and former associates. Maizie winds up living in Black Pine, Georgia with her down to earth father and his new family.
This book is very entertaining. I enjoyed the protagonist Maizie and her delightful spirit. She played a teen detective on t.v. and decided this would be her new career. She talked her way into a non-paying apprenticeship in a one man detective agency, Nash Security Solutions. Her new situation is complicated by her mother who shows up in Black Pine with a camera crew that begins to film Maizie for a new reality show.
The mystery is good with lots of surprises. I didn't figure out the killer. The characters were well developed. This book reminded me of the old madcap caper movies right down to the romantic give and take of the stars. I definitely recommend this book.
Larissa Reinhart’s 15 Minutes is a shining star! Protagonist, Maizie Albright, is a young adult who has been forced to leave her Hollywood acting career due to a court order after she gets herself into some trouble. As an actress, she played the role of a detective and she now has her sights set on becoming a real investigator. She refuses to take private investigator, Nash’s, “no” for an answer and tags along as he investigates the disappearance of an affluent woman in Maizie’s home town. Then, a murder occurs and Maizie finds herself the target of threats. Maizie and Nash traipse through the investigation process, accumulating clues as to whom the murderer is. There is definite chemistry between Maizie and Nash and I can’t wait to see what the next book, 16 Millimeters has in store for us!
Maizie Albright is a spoiled, self-centered former child star. She prefers Michael Kors, Coach, beauty treatments and clubbing with the A-Listers. Her life has been micromanaged by Vicky, her manager/mother (more like a wicked step-mother). After getting into trouble in LA (again), Maizie is sentenced to move in with her father, where she plans to become a private detective. Maizie races to solve a murder and turn in a W2 to the judge within 10 days. If she fails, she could go to jail. Not to mention lives are at stake! Dealing with her past failures, interference from her controlling mother, a jealous ex-wife and her sexy new (almost, maybe) boss...Maizie learns that it's okay to be herself. The dialogue and situations are often so funny that I would laugh out loud and then have to explain to my hubby why I was laughing. I absolutely enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone interested in a mystery, humor and a little side of romance.
I love Larissa Reinhart's newest amateur sleuth. Maizie is a breath of fresh air. Full of determination, she stumbles her way through an investigation, hellbent on starting a new life away from the spotlight. But when the Hollywood comes to her, not only does she have to dodge her momager, she has to prove to PI Nash that she's not just a lightweight actress, but a force to be reckoned with. Five funny, feisty stars!
What a fun book to read! It was full of surprises and Maizie Albright is wonderful. She's a mix between Nancy Drew, Paris Hilton, and Daisy Mae (from Lil Abner). I know I date myself with that last one. Her name-dropping of famous clothes designers whenever she meets someone or changes her own outfit is priceless and her desire to become the grown-up version of her teenage TV personality is heart warming. I look forward to reading more of Maizie's adventures with her hunky boss. (I never guessed the killer until the reveal.)
