UL-listed, of course!
All the internal components are high-quality and electrical connections are on par with any high-quality electrical panel.
And, rather than using a micro-font to fit 3 languages on the interior label, there are two extra labels (French and Spanish) included.
Caution, wear gloves or just be very careful when removing the timer board from the enclosure... ALL of the metal edges are knife-sharp.
The enclosure itself is well-made, extremely well finished, and has no sharp edges whatsoever.
Perhaps when GE moved the manufacturing to China, they no longer smoothed those sharp edges.
Although for my purposes, I only need one "on" and one "off" time, it should really include another pair of "trippers," if for no other reason than as a spare.
One thing that I found surprising, regarding the instructions, is that there is a note in the 'Warning' section which states "grounding must be continuous and in proper electrical contact in all grounding conductors, metallic conduits and grounding terminals" Nothing wrong with that, however, the instructions only state that the bare (ground) wire is to be connected to the ground lug on the metal box. No mention is made of connecting this to the ground terminal provided on the metal plate of the timer module. Without physically connecting these by an additional ground wire, grounding of the module is dependent only on good metallic contact between the module and the box. This would normally be adequate to begin with but in a few years there may be corrosion which could reduce the connectivity. To be safe, make sure you install a ground wire between the ground lug of the box and that of the module. GE, please include this in the instructions!
Incidentally, the grounding instructions only refer to a "bare" wire which is common on 3-core cables. Proper installations for pool pumps or water heaters, for example, would have a separate green insulated wire, so the instructions should include this possibility. GE, again, take note.
After installation and double checking everything, I threw the breaker switch and pushed down the 'ON' lever, expecting the pump motor to start. Nothing!Read more ›
