Sad state of Apple Mac Pros that I need to continue to upgrade my Pre-Trashcan Aluminum Tower Pro 5.1 <again> knowing full-well that this is a sunk cost if Apple ever again ships something worth buying in the photo and video editing space. This memory worked like a charm and reported zero errors on extended Ram Slot test. Remember to install DIMMs from largest in slots 1 & 5 (or 1 & 4) descending to smallest in slots 4 & 8 (or 3 & 6) or the System Information utility will report "Empty" slots.

wish the heat spreaders were larger as the temps were high therefore the fans worked harder but no lag on performance.

I purchased two of these kits a year ago for my Mac Pro 2009. A year later I have to say that I am completely happy. I am a developer and run many virtual machines at once. With the 32 GB of extra RAM combined with the Mac Pro's 2 CPU power, I am a happy camper! If you want to run large VMs, databases, etc., this is an easy no-brainer upgrade that's well worth it!
