Cons: 1) The cable gland which could be more sealed tight for water resistance isn't as secure as I would like but I haven't found a headlamp yet with a better option. 2) The battery pack has a soft rubber cover closure. I'm not sure how well this would hold up if it were to rain out but so far for me for the past few days in the rain it has held up without any signs of water damage.
The battery compartment is closed with a very loose silicone cover and it is the only thing that separates your head and Li-ion batteries.
As to the flashlight itself, it is sufficiently bright and the beam covers a wide area when fully zoomed out, but as the beam becomes narrower when zooming in, it does not become proportionally brighter, as you would expect. It seems like some portion of the light does not exit through the lens, and the more you zoom in, the more light seems to get trapped inside.
At max zoom, the spot gets into a diamond shape (actually a square turned 45 degrees).
One more thing to keep in mind. There doesn't seem to be any battery discharge protection neither. I've kept this flashlight on with voltmeter attached and watched the battery voltage. Saw it go as a low as 2.6 Volts at which point I stopped the experiment because voltage this low is not very healthy for Li-ion batteries. So I ordered protection board on eBay, which cuts off at 2.8V and soldered it between the batteries and flashlight to add over-discharge protection (see 12/18/2016 edit).
I decided to raise my review to 4 stars. Overall, this headlight works great. However, as I mentioned earlier, it lacks proper charging, circuit protection, and better protection of your head from potentially hazardous Li-Ion batteries (they can heat up and explode - not good if this happens at all, even worse if this happens on the back of your head).
Therefore, in addition to protection board I mentioned earlier, which safeguards the batteries from conditions when they can explode, I'm using this charger to properly charge the batteries: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NR77SL2. Properly charging batteries is important to prolong their life.
Also, bought a set of these 3400mAh batteries: 2pcs KeepPower 3400mAh li ion protected 18650 battery Panasonic NCR18650B Cell Built In, so I always have at least one set fully charged and ready to go, in case the other one gets empty.
It appears that the protection board I mentioned above needs some sort of a "jump start" to start working again after it goes into low voltage disconnect mode. Not sure, however, if this behavior is caused solely by the protection board itself or by a combination with the flash light circuitry. In any case, I added a momentary push button switch (normally open) to be able to bypass the protection board after installing recharged batteries (it simply short circuits input "+" with output "+" on this board when pressed). All it takes is a brief tap on this switch to get the flashlight working again.
Since Amazon censors external links, I'm no longer able to provide a direct link to the battery protection board on eBay. Just search for item number 261418349900 or for any other BMS that provides a cutoff voltage at 2.8V or higher.
My main complaint is about the mount for the light, which is hard plastic and I could feel it pressing on my forehead after less than an hour. I glued a piece of foam between the mount and the headband and hopefully that will make it more comfortable.
No problems with the light angle staying in place for now. It does this with a row of ridges pressing against a tab on the head mount. The ridges may wear out over time or the tab may break off.
I'm unsure of how water resistant it is. The rubber cover over the battery pack is soft and fits loosely. The cover over the charger points (adapter, usb) is tighter. Hopefully I will not die because I wore it in the rain.
