"1810" represents a chronological history of the ups and downs of a business in many ways tied both to the good fortunes and the dark days of American capitalism over 200 years. The author succeeded in giving color to the lives of those that carried the B,S &F torch before Mr. Molina. The real fabric of this book is in the profiles and stories about the many owners and committed souls that were dedicated to the creation and continuation of the business that bore the Black, Starr & Frost (and sometimes various other) names. It is a classic American tale that reminds us how “life intervenes” to change good fortunes and poor, in ways that were not anticipated.
If you enjoy history, beautiful things, celebrity and family intrigue, business challenges and more than a touch of elegance, this is a book to read and enjoy. It is one of those books that you can read a bit at a time at your leisure. The cover is also a design in itself that you may want to leave out in your home or office as an invitation for others to become acquainted with this unique American story.
~William Keiper, author of LIfe Expectancy and The Power of Urgency
