Card works great, but just remember these four very important things!

Card works great, but just remember these four very important things!
Most importantly, if you can work thorugh some issues with this card, it works great. It was readily recognized properly by various Linux distros that I tried it with. It's USB speeds seemed really good too. I used this to add USB 3.0 to my Mini ITX build.HOWEVER, JUST REMEMBER THESE FOUR SIGNIFICANT CONSIDERATION FOR USING THIS CARD:1. It requires power. I had to salvage an old floppy drive power connector from an old unit and integrate it into the wiring harness on my PC.2. You may have potential clearance issues with the card once the aforementioned floppy drive power cable is attached. On my particular motherboard, the floppy drive power connector's wires had to be doubled back onto the power connector and zip tied down tight in order to keep it from rubbing the cpu heatsink. See accompanying picture.3. The pins that solder the power pins to the card are too long. The soldered pins protrude so much out of the bottom of the card that you'll likely find it very hard to tighten the mounting screws down without cracking the card's pcb board and/or having the pins dig into your motherboard. I caught this problem and used wire cutters to trim the pins way down. Everything fit much better then. This issue is what solely detracted two stars from this review...4. The set of cables that comes with this card are a little over 32 inches long. That's REALLY long and a lot of extra cable if you're putting these in a small desktop computer or Mini ITX build. I had to order a much shorter separate cable for my build..

I bought this for an AIO (All-In-One) desktop computer I have. Inside, the AIO has a mini PCIe slot that this fit into perfectly. Unfortunately though, the 19-pin-to-USB3.0 cable it comes with protrudes directly out of the top of the card. I could see that the port was setup for this, but it would be much better if the cable provided was either more flexible, or was a ribbon so you could have it come out at 90 degrees to the port and feed it wherever you want.

What I ended up doing was to get a "USB 3.0 20-Pin Internal Header Ribbon Cable (Low Profile Connector)" from eBay. This ribbon cable was very flexible so it fit into the tight space very well. The other end was a 19-pin port just like the blue one that is on this Syba card. The combination of the two worked really well.

One last thing. It would be good if they would include mounting holes around the middle of the card on the sides - in addition to the mounting holes on the corners. That way it would have fit onto the mini PCIe mounting holes on my computer. Unfortunately, there are no screw holes in that location so I had to get creative again and strap it down with a piece of insulated wire.

In the end it is working, and works well. LOVE having USB 3.0 on this older AIO computer that previously only supported 2.0!!!

TL;DR - 4/5 because works well, but lacks mounting for smaller cards, and the 19-pin cable connects at 90 degrees and is not flexible to fit into tight spaces.

I installed the Syba 19-Pin USB 3.0 Header Mini PCI-Express Card with Female USB 3.0 Cable SD-MPE20142 into my Windows 10 Pro 64 machine and it was recognized right away and drivers were loaded automatically. It was just a couple minutes later when the monitor started to flicker all the colors of the rainbow then the computer turned off. I restarted and immediately went to device manager and disabled the card. I didn't have the flicker issue...so I thought, maybe a driver issue. I looked at device manager again and notice the driver was from Microsoft. I went to the Syba site and downloaded their drivers, loaded them in, restarted, made sure everything was good and waited. In a couple of minutes the screen went in to rainbow mode and the PC shut down again. I removed the card, put it back in the box...not sure if I will return or just toss in the trash. I used a cable adapter and connected my case USB 3.0 ports to the USB 2.0 header on the motherboard and all is well with the world. Yes, the USB 3.0 ports on my case are blue and are only running at USB 2.0 speeds, but at least my computer works. Not a good experience.

This works as advertised, but the primary complaint I have is that in the unit's construction. Specifically that the FDD power header protrudes far enough on the bottom of the board to prevent the unit from being properly mounted to the screw hole. ie. those pins push against the MB, and when you tighten the screw, they are forced into the surface of the MB (NOT a good thing!!!).

Frankly, I took a file, and filed them so the board would be able to be screwed into place without damaging the MB. Obviously this issue may not apply to you, but if you are using this in a tight space with a 'standard' height pcie mini header, be prepared to modify the part to prevent potentially disastrous damage!

I wanted to add a second screen for video use to my old 2010 HO touchsmart 300 AIO but with the only USB 2.0 live video would not work. I replaced the wifi mini-pci with this and now have USB 3.0. Works perfect and I can now add a second or more screens with USB 3.0 to HDMI adapters. I did have to do some case modifications and splice in a 5VDC line but no real issues.

Installed on an Intel Atom D2700MUD motherboard, the floppy-drive power connector and wires interfered with the cpu heat-sink making for a tight fit and some bending of the power connector. The lack of a back plate leaves the USB cables/connectors dangling inside the computer case with no external access. I'd happily have paid for a back plate...now I have to find one to fit.

It works well enough but there are no instructions and won't work at all without external power. I thought basic USB would work for things like a mouse but not for things like charging your phone, but it didn't work at all without power. Not a great solution for a laptop for example, I had to jury rig a janky power source.
