Fantastic Voyage label in UK has been releasing British Hit Parade series, from 1954 to 1961 (A-side), containing every single (a-side) that entered the British Hit Parade for each year. And I mean every single, arranged chronologically, each with a comprehensive booklet detailing each song and artist. This is indeed a collector’s dream come true. Being a collector and completist myself, I have purchased every box set that has been released, and totally very happy with all the rare music. There are many many singles that you can only find in this series…truly amazing series. Acrobat Music has recently won a legal battle, regaining the rights to the entire British Hit Parade series, and will be re-releasing them again. I personally bought the above box set from when it was released under Fantastic Voyage.

British Hit Parade 1960 A-side is released under two different sets. The better and more economically set consists of TWO long case box sets, Part 1 (January-June) and Part 2 (July-December), each containing 6 CDs in cardboard covers. The second set of the same series is composed of 3 different box sets in jewel cases, each with 4 CDs housed in the jewel cases. The combined prices of the latter are much higher than the two long-cased box sets. The following review is based on the former configuration.

In this series, there is a very well written 75-page booklet, containing extensive and comprehensive information on each song, plus interesting facts about the artists and the songs, and review of music history during those months.

I have reviewed Part 1 separately. In Part 2 of this series (July - December 1961), there are 6 CDs, with a total of 176 songs!!
