The product itself is awesome. I don't know though, am I allowed to say that it's *really* overpriced? This particular product is not a complete set of cards, this is a *booster box* from the Unlimited (second printing) of this game in '95. These can be found for $200 right now, and someone just sold me one for $140 w/ free shipping. But I actually want to use it to play so I think he took pity on me.
Each pack in this box contains 15 cards, and 2 rare cards instead of 1. Normally that would make the Limited cards (packs only contained 1 rare) at least twice as valuable, maybe moreso because more Unlimited cards/packs were printed and sold. But in the case of this game, much of the value is from the popular 'conspiracy' cards that people are talking about. Oddly enough, some of the most popular and expensive cards in the set are classified as Common cards so there is a good chance of pulling them, probably even multiple copies from the packs in this box. The most well known is the 'Terrorist Nuke' card that looks like the WTC being hit, its a common card I assume you'd find at least one in this Box somewhere.
Also, I need to mention that a number of the cards that people are relating to recent events are actually from the Illuminati: Assassins set, which was a 125 card expansion of New World Order. That set is much more expensive, rare, and the boosters only come with 8 cards. Unfortunately, well known cards like 'population control' 'grave robbers' (crystal skull one) 'Al Amarja' (building in background looks like Aurora movie theater), 'oil spill' etc...
Its a bummer but all those cards named are Rares in the Assassins set. A complete set of JUST RARES (33 cards or something) from Assassins is running close to $250. I assume that the Illuminati have them all locked in a vault somewhere to artificially inflate prices.
The Factory Box that I mentioned in the beginning is a complete set of the first release. By rights it should be near worthless because one copy of every card (409) is in each box. So there are no 'rares' everything was printed in the same quantity. It wad for the casual collector who wanted a copy of each card, or people who played for fun and didnt want to spend a fortune looking for rare cards. The borders look different so nobody gets fooled about what they are buying.
The super crazy thing is that the Factory Box with 450 cards (some duplicates) originally retailed for $30. Now it's $300+. If you hunt and are patient might get one for $250 or a little less.
Well... That's really all you need to know if you are just hopping on here after watching a YouTube video or heard about these from a friend! My advice is if the option is available, don't be afraid to offer less than the asking price. Its really hard to say if these will ever devalue or where they will go from here. The Limited and Unlimited SHOULD hold their value more than the Factory Box cards.... But who knows. This is a fun game, great concept with amazing artwork that seems to have captured the imagination of a whole lot of people. I know I am grabbing these cards and keeping an eye out for the Assassins set. But as of Dec 2015, there is no reason for you to pay more than $200-$225 for a booster box like this. But they will disappear soon maybe I shouldn't open mine...
