This product overheats so much. Connected it to my MacBook, and within a few minutes it started to heat up a lot. Then, a while later, my trackpad stopped working, and then I got the screen saying my computer had shut down because of a problem. This happened a few times, with and without things connected to the device. I remove the device, and everything starts working properly.
Amazon won't accept the return, so I tried to contact the manufacturer, no reply for them. I had to go and get another hub urgently. :(

Update... I received a new one to replace my defective one. It was very quick. The seller was very nice and wanted to help. Since the new one works well, I changed my review. Hope this one works better.

It worked 2 weeks, but it stops working today. My Macbook pro keeps displays USB accessory Disabled - Unplug the accessory using too much power to re-enable USB devices. It's the same when I connect only this device without connecting to any others.

It functioned well until it happened.

I'm so sick of junk from amazon. Since day 1 the hub hot really hot. I hoped all would be ok. This adapter worked with only occasional use with my macbook pro for about 9 months. Now when I plug it in (with nothing else plugged in) I get a message that I've never seen before after 20 years using macs. Message says USB is disabled because one of your usb devices is using too much power. Doesn't matter which port. All the same message only from this adapter with nothing else plugged into it. Junk! The support does answer after I wrote them. They had be "troubleshoot" . Do this, that, then try this and plugin this is first. What a bunch of nonsense. After a few messages back and forth I gave up, I don't have time for it. It is supposed to work. period. JUNK JUNK JUNK.

Good USB hub, really poor HDMI

Read the other reviews: what they say about the heat problem is correct. The more items you plug into the device, the hotter it gets. Your results may be different, but my ethernet will cut-in/cut-out after prolonged use. HDMI is usable, but every screen I have tried on it creates a glitch to where the screen will "jitter" every other second. I use a separate adapter for my HDMI use (sad that I have to do that). I had had no problems with the USB ports with the exception that occasionally my mouse will stop working. I have to switch ports and then it works fine again for a month or two. RECOMMENDATION: Spend $10-$20 more on a different hub. This one is too problematic to justify the cost savings-to-headache ratio.

AMENDMENT: It got so hot it fried the USB ports. It's now in the garbage.

This unit worked flawlessly, but died after 7 months. Until it failed, my only complaint was that it would be kinda warm to the touch whenever connected to power. Other than reliability, it feels solidly constructed and is visually more pleasing than its competition.

My first USB C hub was a cheap $25 model that died after 3 months. I'm impressed that when I called 1byone on the phone that they were able to verify my Amazon order and offered to ship a new one out to me right away.

I bought this USB-C hub because it was the cheaper alternative to the Apple product and offered more features. I bought it about 2.5 months ago, and have used it it most days since. It worked as advertised, and I was very satisfied (just don't touch it while plugged in, it gets unbelievably hot!).

However, today, I noticed that my computer charger was no longer charging my computer when I plugged it into the USB-C port on the hub. I double-checked with a different charger to make sure my charger wasn't broken, and the USB-C port on my computer (as well as my charging cable) both still work fine. Therefore, it seems, after two months of normal usage, the USB-C port on the hub no longer works. The USB-C port was THE PRIMARY REASON I bought the hub in the first place, and now I have no use for it because it no longer connects.

In summary, this product worked great for two months, and is now useless. Please consider its durability issues when thinking about purchasing it. It's probably better in the long run to purchase a higher quality, more expensive hub.

Looks and Feels great... Questionable durbility

I bought two of these to use at work and really love the look and feel of the design and form factor. Great port options as well. I was a little lost when trying to figure out how to power it. The packaging didn't make it very clear that you use the computers usb-c power cord to supply enough power to properly mount HDDs. If you are planning to buy this and use with a device without a usb-c charger, you will want to keep that in mind.

My main issue is that we ended the summer season (three months total) with only one still functioning properly. That was a bummer for a $50+ accessory. It may have been a fluke, but it feels too risky to buy another and find out with so many other options out there.

Do what it does well, almost all the time

Works perfectly with a Clevo-based laptop, all 4 ports used as kind of a 'dock' station. As this is my first USB-C device, the reversible port feels more pleasing to plug than traditional USB-A port.
This hub get a special plus for having longer cable than many others. This allow me to hide the hub out of the view further away with only the connector visible.
When I arrive, I can put my laptop in place, connect the USB-C cable and all my peripherals are ready for use, nice and easy.
Two USB 3.0 WD 2.5" external hard drives, 1 USB 2.0 mouse and 1 USB 2.0 keyboard connected all the time, no mostly no issue.

I have the hub placed vertically hidden in a bunch of wires so I cannot really say how good will it stand horizontally but it comes with an adhesive Velcro pair.

Once in a while, the USB mouse will lag/stutter for some unidentified reason. This can be easily fixed by unplugging the hub for 10 seconds or so and plugging it back in. (That also mean the external hdd must be disconnected so this cannot be done while they are in use)

Not very happy with this product, bought for 2017 macbook pro and it ejects the external hard drive without moving. It also doesn't seem to allow you to use 2 of the 4 USB ports at the same time which is rather disappointing. If I plug in a second external hard drive it ejects the first one. Overall I'm not happy with the product and will look for an alternative.
