This thing has 2 USB ports on it and it plugs into a 20 pin USB 3.0 motherboard header. It is advertised to convert a USB 3.0 20 pin motherboard header into 2 x USB 3.0 A type connectors. Problem? One port operates at USB 3.0, while the second port operates at USB 2.0 speed.
Lian-Li doesn't make that clear at all. In fact if you consider not telling the whole truth to be a fib? Well ya! Lian-Li technical support is non-existent. The seller I purchased this from on Amazon told me to speak to the manufacturer about it. Sound like a conspiracy? Nice, real nice customer service.

If you don't need the 2nd USB 3.0 connector, just one will do then great. If you have a device like I do that requires both ports to be USB 3.0 this is useless. Keep this in mind. You are all very welcome for this reviews. Who know right?

It doesn't even work properly. Wish I never bought it. Hate having to find out which works for my Obsidian 650D.

Test: Copy folder (size:9 GBs) onto USB 3.0 flash drive using this adapter and Corsair Obsidian 650D case USB 3.0 port. It's stuck... at the first few seconds. Transfer speed says 78.0 MB/second. Still stuck and not completing.

Copies small files fine like for example a word document.

Bugs me to know I invested money in something that doesn't work properly because I move a lot of big size files around using USB 3.0 especially with ASUS's USB 3.0 Boost reaching at least 200 MB/second in most cases.

Something's just really wrong with it. Definitely not the case since I plugged the case's USB 3.0 before to the rear I/O and was working fine.

And so please, another note if you're buying a case, make sure it has the 20 pin header so you don't have to deal with finding an adapter.

I'm going to try filing a claim or something to get my money back even if it's just a few bucks.

After getting a Thermaltake Commander (black) case I found that the usb3 port was not a header like the white and red displayed in the store, but a male usb3 end. I had been aquiring the parts to build my new computer peice by peice so the return time when I discovered this had expired. This adapter did the trick. The retail store only sold adapters with a 6" cable attached. This was a better fix for me.

You must make sure that the USB wire you connect to it is are stable because if not the wires you connect to it may be too heavy and will cause the connector to slowly pull off the main board and lose connectivity.

Excellent if you need an internal USB connection. If you're using a IDE to USB adapter and the wire cannot reach to the ports on the back of your case, use this so you can plug it in inside your case. What's more, since the connection length is smaller, you get marginally faster speed as the data has a smaller length to travel.

I use this for a USB software protection dongle that cannot leave the machine it is used with (to prevent user error and simple malice). With this adapter the dongle lives inconspicuously on the inside of the case, without cables being fed back outside, etc.
For this build, the internal USB3 port connecter was not needed for connection of any external ports.

The interface most likely has an improper ground. Tested on a 3rd generation Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 version 3.0 motherboard, Corsair 650D with a brand new Corsair RM 1000 (1kW) Power Supply. Discovered by accident that connected to the pass through on-board from the motherboard to the front panel of the Corsair case the power supply would not crank up.

Disengaged the device and presto! Smooth, steady power.

Does what it says it will do. I didn't want to run my cable on the outside of the box to the rear USB 3.0 ports, so I ordered this and ran my cable to it. Plugs into the MB header and allows for an internal USB 3.0 connection. It is a little loose due to know way to lock it in place.
